Have always believed in advancement on merit, as long as it isn't given by dint of inherited position, power, wealth, or ideological belief. In other words: no meritocracy. power devolved to the most hands keeps us the freest. The liberal economic philosopher Adam Smith sought to take (economic) power from the state and place it in private hands where the freedom of the marketplace would make decisions. Liberals aren't socialists who seek to take power from one group and put in the hands of another interest group. My disagreement with conservative philosophy is the seeking to maintain order and conformity to keep power for the few, and then somehow labeling this 'meritocratic'.
Hey, as long as we all keep it civilized and cultured, I think it's good to make jokes about opposing views and start CIVILIZED discussions about your opinions. I know several liberals on this site who don't treat me like a prehistoric moron for being a conservative, which I appreciate and as such extend the same courtesy to them as well :D

Exactly that. Difference of opinion is great if we can discuss it without things turning hostile. At least one of us should leave the conversation feeling like we gained something from it.
My drinking buddies in college were almost all more conservative than me. Of course we were all to busy hitting the beers to argue politics. These were the Reagan years and it was a relatively religious college. I'm old.
A brainless object that floats in the ocean like a turd and is going to cause destruction and death....you sure that's the model you are using for trump?
Yvw,glad you like it. Yeah, there's lots of differing views, but it's not like Facebook, where everyone is going out of their way to fight or be mean. I think, here,it's about your wit, more than anything else :)
