America. How did we get here? There should be absolutely no doubt in anyone's mind that shooting the gorilla was the right move in this situation.

An animal like that is capable of ripping apart grown men with it's bare hands. I'm sure this story would read a lot differently if the keepers had decided to just let the scenario play out and then something horrible happened to that child. How many scum suckers in the media would be calling for the jobs of the workers involved?

The truth is that the parents should have been paying more attemtion to their child but at the same time the enclosure should have been more secure. Under the circumstances the zoo did the right thing.

I'd rather read about 30 gorillas dead than a single four year old.

Gorilla have almost the same intelligence as humans so the gorilla more than likely knew that the child wasn't a threat. Don't for get silverback gorillas are also critically endangered.

Granted the zookeepers did have to act fast just in case the gorilla did decide to kill the child, but if the gorilla wanted to kill the kid it would have happened when he first fell in.
