I found an article about this: apparently, Disney "needs" same-sex romance in its movies. Guys, just because gays have the RIGHT to be portrayed, doesn't mean they HAVE to be portrayed. Would it really change Elsa all that much? Tolerance is not about loving someone different. Tolerance is when you don't care that they're different. This is not "tolerance" of gays, this is giving gays special privileges, telling everyone that they're better than straight people because they're different. The biggest effect of this is that kids will not express homosexual feelings because they genuinely love the same gender, they will become homosexual because we're pushing them in their faces, and telling them that these people are the special ones. I would still appreciate Elsa if she were a lesbian. But if they expect me to appreciate her BECAUSE she is a lesbian, then they're wrong. In the end, I do not believe Disney has Elsa's character in mind. They only want to try to tell everyone the same message that people were trying to pound into my head through the whole 2010s: "being gay is a good thing [and straight people are just... normal]" I will give this my up-vote, because people need to hear about this, and prevent Disney from corrupting our youth with feelings that aren't theirs.

Don't worry, it's just a Twitter campaign. It isn't official.

It was the voice actor who started it

The voice actor doesn't have authority over what the writers decide.

Wait, did Elsa have two different actors for voice and singing? Cause I know a lot do . . .

Think about the last time a lesbian was the main character in a Disney movie.

A couple of things...

1) They haven't made her gay. It's an online petition by some from the gay and lesbian community to pressure Disney into making her lesbian.

2) Sexuality shouldn't be an issue in cartoon kid's movies.

Cartoons should not be a platform for sexual preferences and if Disney did cave in to the 0.5% of the population, then I will no longer watch Disney movies.

Don't worry, there's still plenty of tragedy in the world to fuss over. I bet if you wen't back to 1940, sure people would be worried about all the stuff going on, but there'd be minor issues like these that people would obsess over too.

I wouldn't want to grow up in today's world, but then again it wasn't so good growing up with the Russian nuclear threat either, the civil rights riots of the 60s and quite a few other things of the time. My point is every generation has garbage it has to outgrow. Be aware, but don't dwell on it so much you miss enjoying being your age, I know you're a bright you man from other conversations, stay focused on where you're going my friend! By the way I did not know you parents were from Lebanon. I hope they still cook for you some of that AWESOME food! I miss the food festival they used to have every year back in Richmond. They don't have them here in Arizona that I know of.

Oh, i hope I see you in the near 10 years, I will bring you a whole truck load of food just for you ;) Just two days ago, I brought two teachers (my math and my science) a plate of hummus for both of them, and the science because she is special, a plate of tabule, I wanted to say thank you to both of them because I went to the private school, and at first I struggled because I was so new, I had a 76 over all in science and 80 something in math, next quarter I got A's in both those classes, the teachers even told me they will not give up on me, anyways, I have been talking to the math teachers and unlike everyone else, I will be taking a Algebra 2 class over the summer, so this way I will be in pre calculus next year, my exams are next week and I am so thank ful that you are here to talk wisdom into my young mind, like you said, yes I understand that the riots, near WWIII with nuclear warheads, etc, that would be horrible, at least the people like you back then are strong minded, unlike today but thank you for everything sir :)

Those were not my fights then, I was a little young then. I had to take it on faith that the people of the time would do the right thing in the end. It does always work out In the end, sometimes like we want and sometimes we have to marine up (adapt, overcome, improvise).

reply
1 up, 1 reply
Actually it's supposed to be 5%, but I was being generous.

Did you know that Hollywood is representing homosexuality in nearly 40% of their movies for only 3-5% of the population? So in rhetrospect they're over representing homosexuals. So there is no controversy.

Well, in a regular person's life, there is almost always a gay person, so even though it is homosexual propaganda, it kinda works out, despite its purpose.

This is my problem with this whole PC culture thing. They keep trying to take things that already exist or have existed for decades and change them. Like the new Stephen King movie coming out. Everyone knows the gunslinger as a white guy, it even had animations on the cover, yet they cast a black guy in it. Does it hurt the role people ask? Maybe not, but it is shooting down any image the readers had of the character. And no I am not biased just when it is changed to a black person. If they did a remake of Blade as a tall white dude I would be pissed. Keep characters how people know them. Want a black super hero? Make one! Give Marvel or DC some "Original diversity." I'm pretty sure they would jump at it. Want an openly gay superhero, make one! Let us get to know him from the beginning as what he is and see if we like him or not. Just my two cents.

Also, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has Hermione as black. I mean, black people are great, but Hermione is NOT black. I feel like J.K. Rowling would have mentioned that somewhere . . . .

Wait, what? Is this since Frozen came out . . .. Because it was about sister power! Like, true sibling love. Love can be romantic or sibling ish and siblingesque is what Disney went with.

From what I've heard, people have been petitioning Disney to make Elsa a lesbian. I don't know if they've gone through with it, but I seriously hope Disney realizes what a bad idea this would be. Not only would she be a bad role model for kids, but (I would hope) many parents would refuse to let their children watch it.
reply
7 ups
Oh no! That is so terrible.
reply
4 ups, 1 reply
How would it make her a "bad role model" exactly? The problem would most likely be kids being confused about their sexuality. If they still make Elsa a good person, then she would be a good person. If they have to cave in, they could make it a minor part and it wouldn't be as much a problem. But if they even put two female dung beetles in it making sexual references that go over kids' heads, people will boycott it.

What I think MKnight means by "bad role model" is that young children shouldn't have a lesbain role model because then the amount of fake gays will increase enormously. The younglings will see her and go "Wow! I want to be like that!" so then they'll force it and more and more people will "come out" just for attention.
reply

Yeah, that's my concern, but on the Internet you never know...
reply

Well, it probably isn't gonna be a significant part of her. Also, it just may teach kids to expect someone in their lives to be gay rather than be gay themselves.

Look, it's not brainwashing, just showing a part of her that is deviant is not "brainwashing kids." The most it's doing is teaching them that they should expect to see some people like that in their lives. But seriously, why aren't you complaining about movies with gay jokes? They're no different in how they affect peoples' minds.
reply

There is nothing wrong about being gay, I just think a character like Elsa, who already has a personality shouldn't be changed. If anything, Disney should make new characters, or it could end up like the lesbian shipping madness in My Little Pony... :/

Actually, it's not official I don't believe. People have just been tweeting it trying to make it happen. They're doing the same thing with Captain America. They think he acts gay in the movies, so they want him to have a boyfriend.
reply

Yep, it's not official. I'm all for gay rights, but I'll be way pissed off at Disney if they do this. As bad a movie as it was, at least it showed kids that romantic love isn't everything, which is a big improvement on the messages they seemed to be sending kids before.

Ah. Bestiality? Well, she fell in love with the personality, not the animal. So, y'know, that actually had a decent moral. And to people who don't like Disney's romantic messages, they are based off fairy tales where love is key (most, anyway) so they can't change major plot points. And also, heard any pop music? Drugs, drugs, sex, drugs, make out, sex. At least Disney has better messages than that.

Yeah? So immature. How does Robin feel about minorities/foreigners/other religions/different cultures/ and anything else that's different from him? Maybe Robin needs to get the intolerance, ignorance and lack of sense of humor, out of him.
reply

Immature? Moi? Maybe, but unlocking your inner child is the key to success. And I don't know how Robin feels, but unless he is killing or harming people for his belief, I don't think his belief should really be criticized. Honestly, my comment was rather a joke, sort of a mock offense. Anyway, I don't believe anybody should be hurt for their beliefs even if it may be something I disagree with. That means I wish for the same courtesy that people may hate my ideas, but at least not harm me with words or other.

Guys, don't blow this out of proportion. These things are only controversial if we make them controversial, and if what Disney does doesn't coincide with your moral compass, try to teach your kids better and throw it with everything else that Disney does that's wrong. If you have kids, then just have them watch movies with better themes, like Zootopia.

Why is a lesbian a "bad role model"? Are there still people who think that you can decide to be gay? And even if you do, what is the problem with it? Many children have lesbians in their families and many of them are actually going to be lesbians (whether they see it on TV or not), or already know that they are lesbians. It would be nice if there were lesbian characters portrayed in films so that they know that it's accepted and relatively common and they don't have to feel the self-hatred and shame that you and other bigots seem to want them to feel.

That said, of course Disney shouldn't feel like they "have" to do this.

Disney movies shouldn't be about sexuality? Every f**king movie is a go***mn love story you idiots! Its constant sexuality. Why should other sexualities continue to be excluded while you delude yourself into thinking that a f**king love story isnt about sexuality. Its not like theyre showing sex scenes, just letting all the up until now excluded children have real role models

Children don't know about homosexuality until some piece of shit "adult" indoctrinates them.

I kind of wish ISIS would f**k Disney up a bit. :{
