what if you make an alt account and your alt account gets more popular than your main one, but you forgot how to log into it?

I don't know if the mods keep track of that directly or not. Sometimes it seems like there a lot of alt accounts on imgflip, so they do seem to let it slide.

But if someone were rigging it at that level, and really bad memes were making the front page under the same name constantly, then I assume it would get to the point that the mods would do something. At least I hope they would.

What I was thinking is that it's a bad idea because it's just so empty - part of the fun of making memes and comments is getting that feedback of what connects with people. If you were just upvoting all your own, you'd miss out on that in a big way.

I see no fun in upvoting your own memes. And not sure how much modding is done around here (as you know)

Yes, some users actually admit that they do that, and you can sometimes see the effects of it when they get into an argument with another user.

Plus also, even if you did decide to be shady and get extra accounts, there isn't really a guarantee that it would boost your points that much - because the time you spent on the other accounts would be time lost from the main account. You'd be spreading your energy out.

I assume most of the regular high scoring users on the weekly leaderboard have only one account, but obviously I can't be sure about that.

And unless one was to spend multiple hours day after day making comments, if they are new to the site like I am, their memes are hardly seen. So maybe using multiple accounts would help get their memes seen, which could help them having fun on the site. Just saying.

I hear what you're saying and why the temptation would be there, but it's an unfair edge.

We all started from the same place, and there are users who do really well without spending hours and hours on the site.
