LOL...Me, too... If memory serves, It was one of the demotivational sentiments from DESPAIR.com I always thought that last line (unless it's death by meteor) was hilarious. Your message was good, too. Even if the astronomy experts pointed out a few little technicalities, the fact is that most of the photons in the light that we "see" was created ages ago, and when those stars do "die", the last bits of light will be around long after their source is gone. False! Almost all naked-eye visible stars are in radius of 1000 lightyears, therefore most probably still alive and shinin'. (imagine Dwight Schrute saying that, I don't yet have enough points for a meme comment :D)

Nope. A mile is a measure of distance. Using MPH to express speed does not change the definition of a mile. A light year is a measure of distance. Check a dictionary.

A lightyear tell you how far light can travel in 1 year, so practically 1000 light years means when u see it, it is at least 1000 years old.
