I disagree, we are spoon fed candidates by the ones that own them and paid for their media hype. "campaign" we are supposed to count ourselves lucky that Trump eliminated the middleman???

the american people have tolerated corruption, empty promises, platitudes and in some cases criminal behavior in their politicians in the last couple generations. As such, is it any wonder that the most cheated-on woman in the world with almost no accomplishments to her name and a brash businessman are now the frontrunners. Say what you will, but the modern american culture worships what these two stand for: money, power and getting away with as much as you can. We made them for they are us.

Did we or do we actually have any power? The government did exactly what the Constitution was supposed to prevent, grew to powerful and no longer answers to average citizens, FBI/CIA violate basic rights left and right, they run our military, our homeland security, the corporations padding their accounts for their loyal representation have black op trained private security. Our choice is always the best of two puppets, Democracy is a facade that they will drop the minute the people try to rise up.

If only we could find one candidate that all could support and write their name in a massive majority vote, then we would know once and for all if we actually elect presidents. Yet we watched the Bush Brothers steal an election from Gore and nobody acted outraged or surprised but Gore.
