I'm not extremely pro gun, but I also don't worry about it much. A lot of effort is expended in both directions, but we need to look at the context. 1) stay out of gangs; 2) practice gun safety; 3) if depressed don't keep a gun nearby. When you factor in everything, non-gang members have about 7000 people per year out of 320,000,000 killed by guns--that's about 1 in 40,000 per year. We should focus on issues which cause many more deaths, like heart disease, cancer, & lung diseases. Pollution over time & car accidents cause many many times more deaths than murders by gun. Check my numbers, I'm sure I'm a bit off, but not that much. I'm just wanting reasonableness on every side, including fewer cliches. There are about 12,000 non-suicide gun related deaths per year, and a large part are gang related.
