Sure. Some are illegal aliens. But the only way they can take jobs is if YOU don't get off your butt and get them first

sure, the american worker just has to get there first... but what about all the other burdens on businesses that come along with hiring some that's working legally?

I always assumed that American businessmen (especially in the border region) would also be of the "I hate Mexicans" opinion and be preferential toward American workers. I could be wrong, because I live up North, but that's my psychological take on it.

Assuming arguendo that border-town Americans were racist against our southern neighbors (I doubt this is true), I'm sure that the businessmen like making money more than they dislike Mexicans.

But wouldn't hiring people who have no American workplace experience and limited language skills be a bit of a liability? You pay them less, but you run the risk of orders being muddled up and generally causing a big mess. And if anybody finds out about the businessman underpaying his employees, he could go to jail. To me, it looks like the risks outweigh the rewards.

Facts on the ground tell a much different story. And I think you're thinking they're getting hired for white collar jobs. They're not. Oh and there is just a minimal fine for the first two times an employer is caught. The third time, jail is not a mandatory minimum, though it is a jailable offense.

Good points. But the fact of the matter that I made the meme about is that there seems to be a double standard. People who cannot get jobs and live off benefits are called lazy, yet other people are to lazy to get jobs, but they blame it on someone else. Good talk though. Definitely adds another perspective to the issue.

I actually see both your points.

They are getting the minimum wage jobs (the "jobs Americans don't want to do") and when people rally to get the minimum wage increased to $15 an hour the temptation to hire an illegal and pay them less under the table will only grow.

Also, I've lived in border states the last thirty years and I actually see hiring preference given to people that are bilingual.
