I'm sure if you fully preheat the pipe you'll get a good 30 seconds of luxury, but yeah. If nothing else, the candle would go out. We had a similar outdoor setup like that for sheep, except we used a small fire on a longer pipe. Biggest problem was that sheep aren't very smart and would investigate the fire and burn their noses.
