I find it interesting that it is nearly the same people who complain about planned parenthood are the same who are always complaining about their tax dollars that could help the community. You want more babies in the world and yet do very little to help them achieve an acceptable standard of living and/or give them little hope to better themselves when they become adults.

-A living embryo would never be in a petri dish. Zygotes can be created in the lab, but at our current level of scientific ability, a zygote must be implanted in a woman in order to develop into a embryo.
-What you are describing is an emotional response, not a reasoned one. People get more upset by the death of dogs in movies than the death of humans.

People are more upset by a dog's death in a movie because when a dog dies, the movie has been in some way centered around the dog, and thus you are attached to the dog.

And our society, like the movie, centers around born children. Which is more tragic, the death of a two year old, a sixteen year old, a thirty year old? These ALL trigger a different level of emotional response, but they are ALL humans.

I believe all death is equally sad, but in the case of an embryo, it's a different story. It is not truly a human or a baby. It is really just an extension of the mother.

My point is, you can't define a fact based on an emotional response.

I didn't say that, but when a woman is pregnant her body produces excess hormones to support the human life growing inside her. When you remove the life, the hormone level is too high. Excess hormones promote growth of cells, especially cancer cells.

Excess estrogen has been linked to cancers....but the levels that are "excessive" *after* a pregnancy is terminated wouldn't be enough to be harmful. The stats would be the same for women that had miscarriages.

I imagine the stats would be the same for miscarriages. There is also an increased risk with birth control pills. My response was in that case was merely to point out (admittedly, kind of rudely, I'm feeling less diplomatic than usual today) that if it had suited your argument, correlation would have been considered causation.

But it isn't in many cases including this one.
