It's just a matter of empathy and compassion, yes with that sadly comes the risk that you will pay for it, such as the case when the native people of these lands and many others greeted, welcomed, fed, and presented gifts to those who arrived here. It is interesting to read the diary or log of Colombus and find that while being treated with such hospitality rather than be thankful he felt entitled and made demands, he regarded the natives as intelligent enough to perhaps make good slaves. How very different would those landings be if the Native Indigenous People had been forwarned.

Columbus recorded that native Americans turned each other into slaves. Records from the French and Indian War prove that there were cannibal tribes.

Columbus said the islanders were so docile they could be lead to Spain as slaves. 1) That doesn't mean Columbus wanted to enslave them as hate America liberals teach. 2) He contradicts his own diary (available online) that islanders bore scars resisting tribes who tried to enslave them.

Christopher Columbus never discovered America. The closest he got was Cuba, on his first voyage. Even on his second, third, and fourth voyages, Columbus reached Central America and the island of Hispaniola (now Haiti and the Dominican Republic), but it wasn’t until April of 1513 when Europeans first set foot on the mainland US, when Juan Ponce de Leon sailed to Florida from Puerto Rico.
Upon his arrival to the Bahamas, Christopher Columbus wrecked the Santa Maria. The native population worked for hours to rescue the crew and their cargo. Despite the natives’ kindness, Columbus’ mind immediately went to how profitable enslaving the native population would be. In his journal, Columbus wrote,

“…With fifty men they can all be subjugated and made to do what is required of them.”

Despite the natives’ kindness and hospitality, Columbus later described the indigenous population as cannibals, when he wrote in 1493:

“(They are) evil and I believe they are from the island of Caribe, and that they eat men.”

Columbus elaborated, describing them as “savage cannibals, with dog-like noses that drink the blood of their victims.”

Columbus could only justify his multiple voyages across the Atlantic Ocean by assuring King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella that the newly-discovered lands were rich with gold. So on his subsequent voyages, Columbus was pressured to deliver. The native populations were quickly enslaved and forced to mine at least a thimbleful of gold every three months. In A People’s History of the United States, Howard Zinn described the gradual genocide of indigenous populations in the Bahamas, saying they were “worked at a ferocious pace.”

“In two years, through murder, mutilation, or suicide, half of the 250,000 Indians on Haiti were dead,” Zinn wrote. “By the year 1515, there were perhaps fifty thousand Indians left. By 1550, there were five hundred. A report of the year 1650 shows none of the original Arawaks [on the Bahamas] or their descendants left on the island.”
After several voyages and raping and pillaging, Columbus and his men grew increasingly depraved. When he was replaced as governor of Hispaniola and recalled back to Spain in 1500, he wrote in a casual tone of how he provided sex slaves to his men, some of whom were small children, for a high price. Death and Taxes called Columbus “the pimp of the New World.”

“A hundred castellanos are as easily obtained for a woman as for a farm, and there are plenty of dealers who go about looking for girls; those from nine to ten are now in demand, and for all ages a good price must be paid,” Columbus wrote.

In the book A Dog’s History of America, author Mark Derr described the horrific pasttime of Columbus and his men: using dogs to hunt natives instead of foxes. This hellish sport was referred to as the monteria infernal. Derr also described how the dogs brought over from Spain were bred specifically to have a bloodhound’s scent, with the long legs and crushing jaws of a mastiff, used to hunt down and kill natives.

Natives were even pitted against these dogs in barbaric, gladiator-style death matches. A native would be armed with nothing but a stick and stripped naked, and colonists would entertain themselves by watching the dogs maul the natives by decapitating them with their jaws. The natives grew to fear being thrown to the dogs as the worst form of death.
Maybe if you want to defend someone, you should defend someone better.

Europeans in fact practiced cannibalism more systematically than any tribes in Canada or Brazil. Until around 1750, human fat, flesh, bone and blood (preferably drunk warm) were widely used and esteemed forms of medicine. Advocates and consumers included Francis Bacon, Robert Boyle and Charles II. Meanwhile, from the early sixteenth century, Protestants and Catholics in northern Europe denounced and slaughtered one another with tribal ferocity, even as each side attacked the ‘cannibal barbarity’ or inhumanity of the other. Frank Lestringant (1997) tells how, around 1580, a French Protestant was killed and eviscerated by Catholics. His heart was next ‘chopped in pieces, auctioned off, cooked on a grill and finally eaten with much enjoyment’.

Elsewhere such savagery might be inspired by social antagonisms. Historian Piero Camporesi (1988) tells of violent aristocratic feuds in early-modern Italy. In one case, a victim’s disembowelled heart was bitten. In a second, the narrator tells us, ‘lucky was the man who might grind the entrails between his teeth’. In a third instance, a man was tortured and killed before being disembowelled. After gnawing his intestines, his attackers proceeded to ‘cut him up into small pieces to remove his fat because he was young, being probably twenty-eight years of age, tall and slim in build’. In Camporesi’s view, the emphasis on the victim’s youth and stature betrays an intention to sell this fat to ‘pharmacologist-doctors’ who would find it ‘beneficial to all nervous ailments’. Given the trade in cannibalistic medicine.
Men all Men have the capacity for ultimate evil, in any group, tribe, race, religion not all can be labeled evil and not all can be labeled good. Demonizing a group of people works when the goal is to commit atrocities, genocide, or enslave them. It works because the good people behind the commission of these acts can be reasonably convinced that these are monsters, not humans, and when many people repeat the same things, it is that much harder for anyone with any reservations about the path they are on to speak up or out. Lest they be labeled a monster or a monster lover too. It is a good trick, it works here on earth.
Only one problem, God is not fooled. So if you believe, believe that, if you don't believe then I guess you are homefree (unless you are wrong)

Those we call Mexican are Native Indignous People to this land, many forced South by the US Government out of California/Texas/AZ etc. many more just ran as Natives had bounties on their heads. The Spanish and the flooding gets to me too at times, but they run from a government owned by cartels, they run abject poverty, AMERICAN companies paying them pathetic.amount and offering them no safe passage to rooms or homes. Yet still I get how many feel. I can just imagine how the flood from Europe must have felt. I cant really talk about the refugees as I still have many reservations about people with such wide differences being able to adjust peacefully.
