I completely agree, and told someone the same thing one time. The special effects in this move was actually quite good for a movie made in 1959.

People are so spoiled by CGI they can't seem to appreciate the various special effects techniques of anything before Jurassic Park. Besides the special effects the cinematography in the Ten Commandments is surpassed by few films. Just look at the women in this or Charlton Heston as Moses with his arms extended out, people today would consider it over dramatic I see something akin to a Renaissance painting.

He was a Sheppard and worked with sheep all day in the desert heat. I'm sure he smelled bad at times. It kinda went with the times in which he lived and the profession worked in.
