Also agree a bit on Trump and Iran. Part of it from open source intelligence I follow is that Israel expressed concerns about being to defend against an intensive missile attack from Iran and and proxies, so more time was spent moving THAAD defensive systems and ordnance into Jerusalem and other under defended targets in Israel. Israel had about an 85% success rate knocking down air threats during the Hamas war, with the scale Iran and proxies could apply that would be catastrophic to Israel. Keep in mind they are only the size of New Jersey, and after land for peace deals the US forced on them, the narrowest point is abut 10 km wide. When their military jets take off they are literally over surrounding nations in a matter of minutes (some bases are measured in seconds). All the incoming missiles intercepted have to fall somewhere, there isn't a lot of vacant territory. Israel has finished testing and has deployed an awesome laser based defense system (Reagan's star wars perfected) with a rapid cycle time and high accuracy they didn't have for Hamas and Hezbollah.
There was also a lot of hardening done on the extensive military base network we have in the Middle East. There is also the valid concern of creating another endless war. Trump's philosophy is hit it and get out. I think he projects too much of his pragmatism on islamic extremists, the culture of death doesn't think the way he thinks they should. I wish he hadn't encouraged the Iranian protests and then not followed through backing their ascension, huge mistake.
Other factors too involve allies getting embassy staff, civilians, etc. out of the area to prevent hostage situations and massacres.

I do believe we have no better ally in the middle east than Israel and that Trump looked before he leapt, I still hold out hope some help might be coming to the Iranians and it was just a matter of getting all the ducks in a row first, as far as I know Iran was a western style country before the revolution and after 50 years of the mullahs the people wont let it happen again.

I also understand what you're saying about blanket statements, I've known too many decent blacks in my life to call them a (unallowed slur word inserted here), it would be a diservice to them and so I also expand that to jews and other peoples but these days it seems it's perfectly fine to label all whites as racist, unless they're gay or outspokenly leftist.
