Halloween was an old tradition brought from Europe known as All Hallows Eve, a holiday where the spirits of the dead could come to visit the living. people wore masks and costumes to hide their identities, and to treat the spirits, they would hand out sweets, untill later, on there would be a tme where people would give out candy so their houses wouldn't get cursed (or TP'd)< and the masks quickly got mixed in with costumes.
