No, it's a money making scam. From profiteers. No political party registration card required to enter in that door. Just ask Elmo Musk.
Carbon Trading Markets... carbon offsets... they're literally trading in pollution, or rather, hot air, as carbon dioxide and methane are hardly pollution per se.
Guess who owns the highest number of shares in the world's biggest Carbon Trading Market, btw? Rhymes with "Al Gore."
In terms of the OP meme, if you could find the clip of Harrison Ford when asked why he flew his private plane to a Climate Change conference, it's gold.
In case you can't locate it (saw it on Red Eye, I believe, years ago, but I haven't been able to find it since), Ford is confronted by a couple of people about it, and he glares at them real miffed then walks away, but then pauses and turns and leans towards them and says, "I'll stop flying my plane when everyone else stops flying" like it was some sort of hurrah moment. Ugh,, he went down a load of notches in my book that day.
Making money in pollution. That's what it's about.
Remember Derivatives and the W Bush Crash of '08? Literally trading in what investors themselves called, "Toxic Assets" - risky loans and the insurance that went with them. Layers of cash added to hot potatoes, and the trick was to not be the last one holding them so your hands won't get burnt.
