Today's media would treat him just like they treat Trump for this. Trump has also called out the media, which is why they hate him so much. Anyone who compares media coverage to actual events doesn't need a Trump or JFK to say something to come to this conclusion, but they insist that distrust of the media comes from being a "maga cultist".
There is a huge difference between a 60s liberal and a 2020s Democrat. Today's Democrat politicians are all so far left that even liberals are growing tired of the party. The infiltration started in the 60s but the Dem party was still very liberal run (though leftists started trying to use the Democratic party to screw over minorities while trying to victimize them at the same time, while calling everyone who questioned their actions "istophobes"). I think had many 60s Democrats realized where their party was headed, they'd have become republican immediately, and I think many would be Republican today. JFK, for example, with all his faults, was a proud American and wasn't pushing taking down the country or trying to weaken the country's power. The space race was the US vs the USSR, a communist nation that he considered an enemy. Today's politicians get billion dollar buyouts from leading communist countries (specifically one that passed us in wealth the year after giving a billion dollars to Biden right before the election), are completely hostile towards people who don't want anything to do with communism, and sell hatred of America to get in office in America.
The Democrat party has been overtaken by pro-communists (who quite literally said they would do this a long time ago), and thats why so many things that Dems said before would be socially unacceptable today. However they will not admit this bc it would cost them votes.
