But you have to be careful as the closer the magnet gets to the vehicle, the faster it will go

Make it so the brake is like a pulley system which causes the magnet to lift up and stop driving.

O you could have something to turn the magnet off

Although the only problem is the pole obscures your view, so put two cranes with two magnets on the sides. The steering wheel and the brakes should make the pulley system.

By turning the wheel the metal will follow a crane. The other crane/magnet will be on top of the metal.

ANd to edit the brake thingy, both magnets will attract to the metal and touch it.
