I’m not religious yet I still call it christmas.

if you arent religious, why do you celebrate Christ's birth??

Christmas isn't always about celebrating christ's birth, it's about the family as my parents say. You can hold your parents influence but you can't force it on others. I've had one big argument and I won't have another. Please just let this slide I don't celebrate because of christ's birth.

Well, without his birth, Christmas wouldn't exist. I'm not saying you should know this and I'm sorry it wasn't already said to you. I hate to see how abused Christmas has become by people. It's really sad. It's supposed to be about Jesus's birth, and how dedicated God was to care for the sins we had committed. And this is what we get from it. Greedy people that celebrate it and refuse to fulfill its purpose. It's one of the reasons CHRISTmas has been ruined for me.

wasn't there that whole thing about how Jesus wasn't born on "Christmas", i.e, December 25th, but was instead born sometime else and the date was changed to coincide with the peasant festival Saturnalia for some reason, which I assume is probably to get the peasants to celebrate Christmas too.
