The cyclical political chart is widely disputed as it ignores the ideological differences between extremists groups. It also introduces the unfortunate theory that there's no good guys...
But the issue comes down to Hitler's supposed hate of communism and Stalin's supposed hate of nazism, dispite them both doing the same shit (right down to Stalin's purging of Russian Jews for having "too much" money.)
Of course the debate will continue for all time, since if we ever admit that Stalin was just the Hitler that got away with it, we'd have to ask tough questions about why everyone is still pushing collectivism and central planning.

I'd agree with everything, except I don't think it's a supposed hate. I'm not entirely sure how Stalin felt about Nazi Germany before they invaded the USSR, but I know the reason Hitler invaded was because he saw the Soviet Union as Jewish. Cause it's always the Jews fault.
The only real difference is that National Socialism is based on race and thus national, while Communism is based on class and therefore can be international.

Marxists invented the concept of socialism, so it’s a bold claim he would claim they corrupted it. Marxists would say the same thing about Hitler’s appropriation of the term.

Overall, the German economic system is not what meaningfully changed under Hitler. It remained a sort of mixed economy. What made the Nazis odious was Hitler’s consolidation of dictatorship powers. His cancellation of elections. The Nazi Party’s banishment of certain groups from government and civic life, and eventually throwing those same people into concentration and extermination camps. The concept of a “master race.” And then, of course, invading the entirety of Europe and attempting to impose his will everywhere.

If Hitler had just said some things in favor of socialism and moved money around, no one would have cared much. Every world leader was doing that — it was the intellectual current of the day. It was all the other stuff, the virulent racism, the genocide, the conquest, that set Hitler apart and makes Nazism uniquely evil.
