this isn't a conflict of race so much as it is ethnicity. the russian president, sad vlad of course, wants to ethnically cleanse and control ukrainians, and make ukraine a part of russia again; similar to slobodan milosevic's treatment of the bosniaks back in the 90's.

volodymyr zelenskyy was only recently elected (2019) and by ukrainian stanards is a liberal. if we were going to judge a nation purely based on its lgbtq stances, russia has it far worse. meanwhile, ukraine has hiring protections based on sexual orientation/gender identity, allows for gender reassignment, and lgbtq individuals can even serve in the military. you can't get close to any of those in russia.
