I saw them open for Van Hagar (obviously a few years back) and they were by far the highlight of the night. They only played for about 50 minutes, but they stole the show

No, conservatives did not destabilize the region. While yes, decades of foreign policy both deliberate and unwittingly may have contributed to the destabilization in Central America. And yes, it’s been going on for decades. You can’t blame a singular policy, let alone us political party, for it. But you can certainly say that the us contributed to it and we’ve have been neglectful of the repercussions.

I think you mean, Reagan and Nixon were conservatives and their foreign policies may have contributed a large part in the destabilization. However, what I’m saying not one policy or us political party is singularly responsible. It is debatable who shares more blame but that isn’t the same thing. Well, in response to "socialism", conservatives long ago decided to amp up the cold war in central america not because russia was there (like cuba) or because russia was the one installing socialist governments, but because capitalist plantation life had failed central america and the people had enough. the same abuses led to the bolshevik revolution in the first place.

Later on, private industry and the drug war pressured reagan to continue with the invasions and destabilizations and finally blew up in public after his arms deal scandal.

Todays conservatives (and many liberals) don't know this history. All most know is "bill clinton's nafta caused our migrant problem" or "migrant crisis is caused by racism" and nothing more.

Democrats were also staunchly against socialism once upon a time. Modern Republicans have only successfully framed them as socialists for a few years. That isn’t to say that there aren’t any Democrats pushing for socialism, but they’re actually few and far between.

Today's Republican party is made up of racist old Southern Democrats who broke away from the modernizing Democrat party led by Lyndon Johnson (and Kennedy). Today's Democrats also include of old school Republicans who couldn't stand Reagan's hard right bullshit, especially after the Nixon fiasco. Parties flip, but people stay the same.
