Had he held the rifle lower, he would have added the chlorine to his gene pool

It's just common sense. Why would you hold something that's gonna shoot a bullet hundreds of km/h the way he is? Hold it like that and you could shatter your skull!

I have fired a guns: handguns, rifles, and shotguns. I used a picture of John Wayne in another reply. The picture was from True Grit, the scene where he's shooting up a bunch of baddies with a pistol in one hand, a rifle in the other while holding the reins of his horse in his teeth. A novice has only seen those images in movies and doesn't understand the real power of a firearm, including recoil. Watch films that involve shooting, and you'll see that recoil rarely exists in these fantasies of machismo.

like yes guns are dangerous if used improperly but so is a f**king fork, or scissors. Things being dangerous isn't a reason to ban them. Dangerous people using them isn't either. We need to get rid of the dangerous people not the dangerous (if used improperly) things, and that's just another one of the very many good reasons we have for securing our borders even more tightly.

Long before Isis, Al-Queda, or any of the other terrorist organizations got around to murdering people in the US, we had domestic terrorists (think the Weather Underground, Symbionese Liberation Army, The Chicago 7, the Ku Klux Klan, the Mafia, etc) and border security wasn't the problem.

Gun control should consist of not only the ability to properly use a fire arm, how to handle it when not in use, and most importantly, WHEN the proper time to use it is.

This schlub hasn't mastered those three things.

okay. ill raise my children and tell them that they need to go through a week of training and a 4 page packet of proof that they succeeded in that training and then make them pay money so i can give them their license to use safety scissors.

First thing I learned about anything: no matter how much you know, there's always someone that knows more about a subject and is better at it. My daughter lucked out in that her instructor has not only had a CCW permit for decades, but learned to shoot, and taught it, in the US Army. It went well for her on her first visit to the firing range.

i learned you'll probably never meet that person but you'll sure as hell will meet a lotta people that think they're that person.

I'm agreeing with you; just need to point out that the Mafia (The Syndicate, Our Thing, La Cosa Nostra, The Mob, whatever) is basically Sicilian and I really really really don't think that qualifies them for Domestic Terrorist status!

I really had to think that one through. I come from a mob town where most of the members of those organizations had not been born locally. Many members, low level, but members, couldn't trace their roots to that part of Europe. Meyer Lansky comes to mind as do Dutch Schultz and Bugsy Seigel. While they never rose to a capo position, they were still highly ranked based on their skills. Today, we have the Mexican Mafia and the Russian "Mafia". Even in parts of the country, the Yakuza are active within our borders. The difference between these terror organizations and that of the those from the Middle East is that they are run for profit, not as a jihad.

''Today, we have the Mexican Mafia and the Russian "Mafia". ''

Just curious...is that what those particular organizations call themselves, or were those names simply given to them by the news media?

Common slang used by news and entertainment groups. Russian is known as Bratva, or "Brotherhood". Mexican Mafia is also called La eMe. Despite it's name, it is American in origin. Also forgot to mention the Tong. And lord only knows what other organizations are around.

There are a lot of organizations for just about every ethnicity.

One piece of physics most kids learn in elementary school, or should. Somehow, I suspect that, prior to shooting this rifle, he told someone else, "Here, hold my beer and watch this!"
