I have to admit the clean sweep on all 34 counts was a bit of a surprise; kinda figured the jury would pass on one or two charges --of course, unlike the rest of us, they were there for the whole trial, had access to all the evidentiary exhibits, heard all the testimony and made their decisions accordingly. I know... y'all are still screaming "politically motivated" and you're sort of right -just not for the reason you think. Prosecutors don't bring a case to court unless they have a high degree of certainty they'll land a conviction. Since Alvin Bragg is an; elected official, naturally, he's going to be looking to the next voting cycle with an eye toward staying in office -and the political damage of bringing a high-profile case like the criminal prosecution of a former POTUS and losing would be a campaign killer. So yeah, the best thing that could happen to Alvin Bragg politically is scoring a huge, easy-pickings, shooting-fish-in-a-barrel victory; enter your boy's personal, co-conspiritorial Sword of Damocles. There's a certain ironic parallelism between the rise of both; Donny and Dionysius and the perils they built for themselves but that's a dissertative comparison for elsewhen. Anyway... Dear Leader is now a convicted felon 34 times over. But -and this is where the bigger picture starts to come together- they're all white-collar crimes. Granted, there's the sheer volume factor but it's his first time getting hauled; in and Merchan'll probably take the three other criminal prosecutions looming in the distance into account. Yup, odds are he'll be hit with a suspended sentence of X# of years in prison, probation, a massive fine and ordered to do community service. Although, given the nature of his conviction, it's a bit hazy on just what he'd be doing as restitutive labor.
