The issue comes entirely from the fact that straight people haven't had to fight for their rights to be straight in the same way gay people have had to. Being straight was seen as the in group, the default if you will, while gay people have been seen as the others. They had to fight for the right to be who they were, and not be assaulted in the street or discriminated against in work, education and wider society (and are still fighting for btw).

After Melony got turned into a human, yes. I'd argue that his potential wasn't being tapped into.
He could've benefitted from having an arc where he's the protagonist, and we see him grow as a character.
the Genesis Arc and Human Melony were disappointments for me as an Axol fan.
