Complete separation between church and state is not possible. The president holds the bible and recites "So help me God" in the oath of office. We had two Catholic presidents, JFK and Biden, but no presidents of other faiths yet.
Trump aside, if it helps set a common moral ground for America while acknowledging religious freedom, increasing Christian presence may not be a bad thing. Atheists need morals too.
Even as a non-Christian I can recognize how the church shaped America's legacy. It had a role facilitating western expansion and civil rights.
