I accept that people share my pride, and I'm grateful for that, but there's absolutely no excuse for associating the South with hate and racism.

No I'm not, I'm showing my pride for my ancestry. It's heritage, not hate. I'm not keeping the memory of hate alive, I'm keeping my PRIDE alive. The Confederate flag is NOT a symbol of hate. In fact, the flag was actually created so a Confederate general could distinguish his own soldiers from the enemy.
