Unfortunately, it actually worsens the problem. The entire reason it even worked in the first place is because you were putting your cartridge in and out again, loosening the gears. Blowing on it would get a bunch of saliva in it, which is never a good thing.
The best solution to this is to leave your wiener upwards, bound with your undergarments. It hurts a bit when flaccid, but it saves me out of some extremely awkward situations.
