It really did work when you blowed it...I guess that's why many people like "blowing" stuff ;)

Unfortunately, it actually worsens the problem. The entire reason it even worked in the first place is because you were putting your cartridge in and out again, loosening the gears. Blowing on it would get a bunch of saliva in it, which is never a good thing.
