The Catch-22 of finding proof of that God exists. in fun

There are several different families. The meme fails to clarify which God. Even if you are Christians, you are more than likely all different branches, which means you all probably still think each one of y'all will burn in hell. So much for family.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever read. It's basically a pascal's wager meme. Pascal's wager, by the way, is a horrible one. Basically it says that if you believe in God and you are right, you go to heaven, but you're wrong, nothing happens, and if you don't believe in god and you are right, nothing happens, where if you are wrong, you go to hell. This is an extremely obvious black and white fallacy. This makes it seem like the only two options are to either believe in God or not to. What it fails to realize is that there are a shitton of gods to pick from. If the Muslims are right, you burn in hell, if the Jews are right, you burn in hell, but what if the Catholics are right and I am a Baptist, guess I'll just burn in hell. Really my odds of burning in hell are only slightly worse than those who believe in a Magical Genocidal Maniac who lives in the sky.

It's pretty hurtful for many people to believe in a god. Many people go their whole lives without being able to properly mourn. They could be encouraged to deny facts such as evolution. They could disown their own family members because of a change in faith, or something they could not control like sexual orientation. I have seen more harm than good come from faith in fairy tales. When I believed in a god I was tortured by the thought that my very best of friends would go burn in hell for an eternity simply because they didn't believe the same fairy tale I did.

Now I do think that many people do great things and give the credit to their faith, but if you need to fear eternal damnation to do good things, are you really a good person?
