WHY DO ONLY 50% OF CHRISTIANS TRUST THE BIBLE 100%? [3 of 4]
Another reason we can trust the Bible is that there are close to 25,000 copies of the New Testament alone; some from the actual lifetime of the writers. It used to be that the oldest were within 25 years of the date written, (which is amazing), but now we even have Scripture from the same year it was written. Those copies are on pottery that was stored in Qumran. For some strange reason that extraordinary historical find doesn’t get on the History Channel. It gets no attention from secular media even though the Qumran caves of the Judaean Desert (West Bank of Israel) had Old and New Testament materials, again, some of the latter that are from the same year the original was written. That is absolutely phenomenal! The Bible is unquestionably reliable. Now let’s contrast the Bible with the writings of Aristotle and Plato that no one mocks the veracity of. The Bible has 25,000 copies, some from within the same year as the original, yet people feel free to question the authority and authenticity of Scripture while the earliest copies of Plato and Aristotle are 1200 and 1400 years removed, respectively, from the originals. And there are only 7 and 49 copies of those works on the whole planet. No one scoffs at the authenticity of those books, while at the same time they do with the Bible, which is totally reliable. | image tagged in bible, trust, truth, god, christian, jesus | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

WHY DID GOD GIVE THE ISRAELITES DIETARY LAWS? Well, it certainly included a practical side: Before refrigerators, God knew safe storage of shell fish might not work well in the desert. In fact, it would lead to more last suppers. The dietary laws were also one of God's many ways to use Israel as an object lesson for all people. Israel was to be a light unto the nations. Their actions at God's prompting sent messages to the world about problems everyone has that need to be fixed. When made aware of those issues, hopefully people would come to God for the fix. Those particular laws in Leviticus were also to point out that God is clean and we are unclean. Again, God also gave Israel the dietary laws to make Israelites stand out on purpose. | image tagged in god, israel, laws, bible, christian, old testament | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

IF JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY, WHAT ABOUT THE DESERT ISLAND GUY WHO HAS NEVER HEARD OF HIM? [2 of 2]
Even if our desert-island recluse was blind and deaf, so he could not see or hear God’s "Creation" (the first C of 3), Romans 2 talks about the second C, which is the light of "Conscience.” People inherently know it's wrong to murder. Where did that come from? If evolution were true, there would be no right and wrong, right? Of course over time people like Hitler can have their consciences become seared. Early on though, everyone knows it inherently wrong to kill and steal. Where did that come from? Since many have not seen God’s 10 Commandments, where did they get those same morals? That's the moral argument of existence, which says, logically, universal moral laws must come from a universal moral-law giver, i.e., God. There has to be a God. Creation and Conscience (2 C’s) testify that there is a God and those pull the rug from under skeptics. So our island guy has no excuse. The third "C" is “Christ,” and this one is for you! We addressed the hypothetical straw-man argument of the desert-island guy, mountaintop person, or those lost in isle 37 at Wal-Mart. But none of that matters if you’re reading this. We are all sinners and Christ died to save us from hell, if we just accept His free gift of salvation He supplied to us by dying for our sins on the cross. If you hadn't heard prior, at least you're accountable now, which brings it all back home, doesn't it? | image tagged in heaven, salvation, god, bible, jesus, hell | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE “SINNERS IN THE HANDS OF AN ANGRY GOD?”
Written in 1741, as part of what lead to America’s First Great Awakening, Jonathan Edwards gave this sermon about how unrepentant sinners are only still breathing at this moment, and not in hell already, because of God’s mercy and long suffering to give them more time to choose God over an eternity in hell without Him: "There is nothing that keeps wicked men, at any one moment, out of hell, but the mere pleasure of God. God may cast wicked men into hell at any given moment. The wicked deserve to be cast into hell. Divine justice does not prevent God from destroying the wicked at any moment. The wicked, at this moment, suffer under God's condemnation to hell. The wicked must not think, simply because they're not physically in hell, that God is not—at this very moment—as angry with them as He is with those miserable creatures He is now tormenting in hell, and who—at this very moment—do feel and bear the fierceness of His wrath. At any moment God shall permit him, Satan stands ready to fall upon the wicked and seize them as his own. Simply because there are not visible means of death before them at any given moment, the wicked should not feel secure. All that wicked men may do to save themselves from hell's pains, shall afford them nothing if they continue to reject Christ." It is said that, as Edwards preached, he kept being interrupted by people running down the aisle and dropping to their knees, asking what they must do to be saved. That began to spread throughout our continent
during the time before the American Revolution of 1776. | image tagged in hell, eternity, heaven, salvation, christ, bible | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
