WHY ARE ALL OUR RIGHTEOUS ACTS CONSIDERED FILTHY RAGS? Isaiah 64:6 says, “All of us have become like one who is unclean and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags." Our salvation is not the result of any of our efforts, abilities, intelligent choices, personal characteristics, or any acts of service we may perform. However, as believers, we are “created in Christ Jesus for good works,” which means we are to help and serve others. While there is nothing we can do to earn our salvation—because Jesus did that—God’s intention is that our salvation will result in Christ-like acts of service to help build the kingdom of Jesus. Ephesians 4:12 tells us we are not merely saved for our own benefit, but to serve Christ and build up the Church. This profound
biblical truth reconciles the seeming conflict between faith and works. No one needs to be enslaved by man’s decrees of some supposedly-needed religiosity that involves some efforts (works) that man lays out as the way we somehow get ourselves to heaven, instead of just trusting in Jesus' death on the cross. James 1:22 and 2:14-26 let us know that our righteous acts do not produce salvation; instead, they are evidence of our appreciation for Christ’s free gift of salvation. In the end we must recognize that even our righteous acts come as a result of God within us, not of ourselves. Working on our own to try achieving salvation for ourselves—whether in conjunction with trusting in Jesus or not—our righteousness is simply self-righteousness, showing a
vain and hypocritical religion that produces nothing more than “filthy rags.”
We work for Christ’s kingdom because He saved us from hell by
His sacrifice alone. [Some excerpts from GotQuestions.org] | image tagged in sin, works, heaven, hell, god, bible | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

IF JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY, WHAT ABOUT THE DESERT ISLAND GUY WHO HAS NEVER HEARD OF HIM? [2 of 2] Even if our desert-island recluse was blind and deaf, (so he could not see or hear God’s creation), Romans 2 talks about the second C (of the three C’s that prove God’s existence): the light of “Conscience.” People inherently know it's wrong to murder. Where did that come from? If evolution were true, there would be no right and wrong, right? Of course, over time people like Hitler can have their conscience become seared; early on though, everyone knows it is inherently wrong to kill and steal. Where did that come from? Since many have not seen God’s
Ten Commandments, where did they get those same morals? That's the moral argument of existence, which logically tells us that universal, moral laws must come from a universal, moral-law giver—God. There has to be a God! So, Creation and Conscience (2 C’s) testify that there is a God, and those two truths pull the rug from under skeptics; our island guy has no excuse. The third "C" is “Christ,” and this one is for you! We addressed the hypothetical straw-man argument of the desert-island guy, mountaintop person, or the one lost in isle 37 at Wal-Mart, but none of that matters if you are the one reading this. We are all sinners, Christ died to save us from hell, and all we must do is accept His free gift of salvation that He supplied for us
by dying on the cross for our sins. If you hadn't heard prior, at least
you're accountable now, and doesn’t that bring it back home? | image tagged in jesus, god, bible, heaven, hell, christ | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

IF JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY, WHAT ABOUT THE DESERT ISLAND DWELLER WHO HAS NEVER HEARD OF HIM? [1 of 2]
Let’s say this island guy has not seen another person—no human, animal, bird, or even an insect. The skeptic's question is this: "Do you mean to tell me God is going to send that poor guy to hell?” You may know the answer if you’ve already watched our seminary-style study called "Discipleship 101 and 102," a disciple's education for every Christian, because the last directive from Jesus as He left earth was, "Go and make discipled learners of all nations.” Every saved soul is a blessing, but each accomplished Disciple is equipped to bring multitudes with him or her to heaven. Romans 1 and 2 answer our question about
the isolated, island person and it’s called the "three C's.”; I'll give the first C here and the other two in part two: God's “Creation" is apparent to every human, so lack of a Bible is no excuse. Romans 1 says we have "the light of creation." Just step outside to see a bird, a flea, or a bee; that is intelligent design—just as your car, watch, and phone are—which implies designer. The unfathomable complexity of the stars and planets testify that they did not happen by chance. All of creation drives us to know that there is a God. Romans 1 tells us that "God's invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the
creation of the world.” God can be seen and heard by observing
and hearing His creation. So, everyone is accountable—no
human in all of history has had an honest excuse! | image tagged in god, proof, jesus, christian, heaven, hell | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

HAVE YOU SEEN SPIRITUAL WARFARE? One day a parishioner's grandfather had a heart attack and looked like he was not going to make it. So, they called me to say, "Go witness to him!” I don’t mean to be mean but I’m thinking, "Why don't you go witness to him?" I will but we should not wait for a pastor. We should all go. Anyway, I went and started to witness in the hospital room with just me and the old gentleman—God gave us an open window. I felt led to give my testimony, so I talked about how I used to really hate Christians, thinking they were just dumb duped idiots, and I tried every religion on the planet but nothing worked until the moment I cried out to Jesus: Instantly, I was saved from all the demons, drugs, and immorality. I received a new heart, mind, and life! At this point the old fella was
starting to tear up and I was thinking, “Praise God! Oh boy, this is cool!”
At that point the wife came in and sat in a chair across the bed. As we were at the important moment when I was literally saying, "And would you like to pray and receive…," all of a sudden his wife stood up and became like a cat on a hot-tin roof: She kept interrupting “Oh, he’s fine,” or “Leave him alone,” every time I tried getting him back to the salvation prayer. I thought, "Whoa, what's going on?!" Just when she had calmed down and I got back to, "Would you like to pray and receive…,” a doctor with a red bindi dot on his forehead came in—a Hindu doctor. It was then that I knew this was full-on spiritual war for the poor guys soul! Something or someone really wanted that man to go to hell. Unfortunately, that's when the visit had to end, but it wasn't the last of this story: Some days later, the same grandson who asked me to go to the hospital also had me perform the funeral. During that solemn occasion, a brother of the old man who’d just passed at the hospital came up and thanked me. Of course, I try pointing appreciation to God. I asked him why he was thanking me, to which he replied that his brother had
completely changed right before he died. So, I can't say for certain but it
sounds like that old fella got past the spiritual warfare, started trusting in the Lord,
and found that same peace I had received many years earlier. | image tagged in god, bible, eternity, jesus, heaven, hell | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
