Pardon the religious rant. It's Good Friday! (I'm going to make another temp soon) | good evening dear. I watched a nice half-hour sermon for Good Friday and I'll do it again on Easter. unfortunately i went upstairs to text my religious grandfather about it and my sister kept on lying to my mother and brother and saying I was leering at her and looking over her shoulder (I wasn't, and I think she kept saying it mostly because she watches weird things and sees the turnout and anyway she consistently expresses her hatred for me). somewhere in the middle; Megan (feat. Josh Caterer of The Smoking Popes)- Bayside, Joshua Caterer; The lesson I watched earlier was about why Jesus absolutely had to die.
Jesus was in a spot where everyone wanted to be the Messiah. There were several Israelite groups- I forget their names, but one wanted to attack Caesar, one wanted to back away, one wanted to collaborate and one wanted to stay as religiously pure to the Torah as possible. Jesus did none of this. Jesus was the one true Messiah and faced being crucified and executed by the Romans. He was a man pure to God, the purest one possible. The Romans saw a threat in him that he would be capable of ending them, but he was aggressively nonviolent. Now, Rome was not popular because they forced all of Israel to pay taxes of crops and money. If someone opposed them, they had Pilates bring cruel harm to them. Everyone in their right mind knew that Caesar was an idol, and that they shouldn't have had to pay to him. They only ever had to listen to God because he was the one true God. Jesus on Good Friday, while walking through a garden at 2 a.m., decided he would not lift a finger against them. At four in the morning, he was detained and taken to a trial. All of the attendees falsely testified, but their stories were incoherent and frankly didn't make much sense or go well together. Jesus did not correct them. He accepted his punishment, knowing God would help him back up. At eight they would execute him on blasphemy and treason- blasphemy for the onlookers, treason for the government.
