Okay! I know it is called "Inception" & I know what Inception is, but I still don't EXACTLY get it. So, how does this meme work?

Typically (there are no actual "rules" for me ussage)
The first panel asks a question
The second pannel gives a stupid/wrong/questionable answer
And the third panel is left blank because that look is supposed to be interpreted as "really?"

I'm not sure anyone is actually intending to be mean to you (I haven't seen which comments, so I don't know what was said or the context). The humor on this site is pretty twisted, and it is not uncommon for users to insult each other in jest.
Now if it was a political meme/comment thread, those can get pretty brutal.

If you look to the right of this meme, there's a box with a miniature picture that says "Re-caption this meme."

If you click on that, it will take you to a blank version of the template. If you scroll down below that image, you will see there is an option to click on blue text that says "See all" Inception memes. If you do that you can scroll through them, and get a feel for how other imgflip users have been using it.

That's usually what I do when I want to figure out a template.

I wasn't trying to be patronizing or ironic on purpose. I wanted my comment to have a picture on it to set it apart from boredmeme's comment (since they're both text-heavy) and that picture was the quickest one I found that fit.

I did suspect it was my cynicism. Thanks for responding.
