Actually it can be that way. Sub/Dom is usually just roleplay. While the Dom usually guides the direction of the roleplay, rules are usually established beforehand to prevent roleplay from going to far (the most commonly known form is that of a safety word, that can be used to stop roleplay when it goes into uncomfortable territory). That is not to say all Sub/Dom relationships necessarily work that way.
