Dang this was one of the first photo shurps I did for sure. Really glad you found this it has a comment from John and Invicta on it even which always makes me nostalgic. You better never leave this site bro. There are too few of you guys left from back when I started that care about the history of this site and memes in general. I miss the comment threads from back then big time!

If I leave, it'll only be for a mini vacation. I couldn't leave for good.Yeah, you look at the comments from over a year ago and the site has really changed. You don't really think about it until you look back. Of course I remember the site before they had it where you could directly comment on someone else's comment. You had to put the "@" symbol, then the user's name so they knew who you were talking to. lol

Vacations are cool I can handle that. Have lost too many people I looked up to when I started already. I started like the day after they made the downvotes stop appearing on memes. There were so many memes by pissed off users about it. Funny how much has changed since then!

I have trouble finding many that want to run a thread of comments back and forth at all now it seems. I'll go through the latest and leave like 20 comments and be lucky if I get 5 replies and even luckier if more than that when I reply again. Certain people I can always count on it from still of course, that group keeps getting smaller on me though :(

Yeah, then the new users who enjoy commenting back and forth only last a few months, then delete their profiles and aren't heard from again.

If anything deserves my attention it should be showing new users how much fun that is. It's so hard now, you know I can't remember the last time I met a new user that asked me about any of this stuff. So many "new" users already know everything the day they start. Or they only show up around drama or where massive points seem to be.

Sadly I think it was Ghostofchurch I met during the page9 where nobody knew who he was yet. That was the last user I recall taking under my wing for lack of a better phrase. I could tell he had instantly fallen in love with commenting and was genuine about wanting to learn the history of this place. I had to tell him to look you up like I do anybody who wants to know more about the history of flip than I do.

I try and search the latest pages afraid I'm missing somebody like that. I just don't have the time for it I used to. Always have my eyes out for users like that though no matter how many times I get burned by an alt. I'd love to see this place get back to being more about that type of thing.

Yeah, and I also thought ghost's Imgflip awards was a cool idea. Only one year of that and it's gone.But there aren't too many users like that around anymore.

It's gotten so full of alts and "new" users who deleted their profiles and are now back with a new name and they don't say anything about it. I don't know who is genuinely new and who is an older user just starting new, or who's alt it is and such.

In the top 20 users there are only about 10-12 that are still making memes on a regular basis.

I don't think ghost is done with us yet, I hope some of the changes in the past week or so helps him want to come back. Or maybe he is just doing some stuff first I am not sure.

You kidding those awards made me feel better about my memes than anything else ever has. Winning best custom memer made all the memes I spend too much time on for too little upvotes more than worth it. An award from your peers to me means a lot more than some random upvotes. I wish he hadn't deleted, losing that much meme history hurts me. I have spoken with him recently so I have only had his memes to miss luckily.

Well, if I had time to collect all the meme history I would do a special meme about it or create a meme stream. Unfortunately, I don't.

Yeah I don't either, even socrates isn't keeping track like he used to. He doesn't seem that active anymore I hope he never leaves as well.
