Lol excellent question. Not very easy to explain.

One possible answer might be "a meme that is so overused that it has become a joke in itself how familiar it is, and people make fun of it for that reason."

But I'm pretty sure there's more to it than that.

A dank meme is one that's been kept on the cold, wet basement floor (and without ventilation) for a long period of time! If your meme has mold growing on it, throw it away and make a new one.

Or it could be someone that is so dank they become a living meme, like DJ Khaled for example
