Oh hell yeah! I have experience dealing with youths on the wrong track, I tried over years to reach him. He was a good kid from a musical family, but his mother is the worst mother I knew. A slight case of Affluenza in that family. They've lost alot of friends because of their children, and moms denial. I feel for my uncle cause he werks way hard and they will put him in an early grave.

Yes, yes I do :/ Palin blames Obama for her son's actions. I thought the Republican party was about personal responsibility, not blaming someone else for things which you can fix for the most part by herself :/

*yourself my bad. I think she could've fixed her son's problems by herself as she used to be a governor. Idk, just my thoughts :L

80-90% of the people on here are far right wing conservatives that don't like the truth when it's inconvenient for them.

I hope that's just an exaggeration, surely there's a more fair balance :/ While the truth hurts sometimes, I have to accept it. While it does make being consistent more difficult, it gives us better results.

All my children were taught to respect their elders and people of authority.. Both my youngest are black blacks in uechi ryu karate and nothing but yes sir, and no sir comes from their mouths when addressing folks... We need more discipline for our children it won't kill them.

It could annoy them though. If someone is using too many manners around me, I get pretty annoyed. But thats just the way I am

So there are those in every profession that abuse that which goes with it. Does that mean no one is worthy of respect or at least common courtesy other than the unemployed?

And then they have reasonable suspicion. Best to say "yes, officer" or "yes, sir" and then keep your mouth shut. That makes it easier and faster for both of you. (Unless, of course, they ask to search you/your car/your house without a warrant.)

I live in a area were if you yell at a kid wrong the kid just calls family services and they tell you that you should not be yelling st the kid
reply

Mine still got a rap on the ass up until about 4 or 5. After that they were more interested in listening because they knew the alternative so spankings weren't needed anymore. The only way that works however is teaching through example and teaching proper manners, respect etc..., and not just hoping it happens.

I'm always kind to law enforcement, but when they return that kindness with rudeness, I get a little lippy. I've only had to get lippy with one officer, who was accusing me of stealing from a store, when what I was "stealing" wasn't even a product the store carried (A generic soda with the store logo on it, in a completely different store). Even after showing the bottle to him and saying that it was just a mix up he told me that I had to stand there until the store manager arrived because I didn't have the receipt (mind you, from the other store). Then after the store manager parroted what I said to the officer, I blatantly called the officer incompetent and told them to pick a different profession.

Aside from that, I've never had any issues with respecting the police.

Most cops are good,.. in my experience. Almost everyone they come across,.. ( by nature of their profession),.. is a violator of some sort, so they are naturally suspicious. Most people that get arrested,.. often made that choice by running their mouth rather than just move on. Your case is more of the exception,... I like your example! I had something similar happen years ago,.. driving a vehicle that resembled one usede in a crime,.. and I was in the vicinity. Cop made me get out and lay on the ground,.. I was getting pissed because I knew it was a mistake,... but this guy was going on the info he had,... so I understand. He was cool after and apologized,... but it didn't make my experience better at the time. =) Good comment!

I agree completely. In all aspects, we view the worst people of a group and try to make them the stereotype. Example: "cops beat up innocent people"
Despite the number of cops who DON'T do that, or the circumstances that led to the use of force, let's just make that the scope with which we view the people who's job it is to defend us, and our communities. [sarcasm]

I don't deal in stereotypes. I judge an individual based on merit alone. A cop is a cop. Whether or not they're a "good cop" or a "bad cop" is up to them.

Good comment - and if people do not like the judicial system here in the USA, where I live,.. they would shit cinder blocks if they saw the police abuse in other countries! I have traveled,.. and cops in other countries can do almost what they want when dealing with different levels of criminals. I spent some time in Turkey ( as an example ),... and anyone who dont like western law enforcement,... should really travel a bit and run their mouth to a cop in another country if they want to see what could really happen!

I see these people online all the time, posting videos of circumventing American laws and seemingly rubbing it in the face of the police as they're doing it, as if they deserve to be given a hard time for trying to do their job like anyone else. Like the people who whip out the Christian Bible at the border checkpoint to annoy the police into letting them pass, or the people that just keep telling the police "I don't answer questions" in response to simple questions. It'd be cute to see them try that in Moscow or something. Get a free extended vacation to Siberia.

Usually around here if you start to hassle the police, and a crime isn't really being committed, they try to just send you on your way. However, if you're a drunk guy and you start getting in their face, you can probably expect a few nights in the slammer and a trip to the dentist.

Not sure where you live,... and I agree that there are bad cops,... but in my area of metro Atlanta,... mostly good cops. I have been pulled over in my vehicle at various times,.. and always was polite. Had one seatbelt violation,... everything else was a warning. I know when to say: "yes officer". =)

There is no way anyone can win being lippy to a cop,... no way. You're gonna get a ticket or worse,... so my game is,.. be polite and minimize the damage. Works for me!

I live in Texas, and the cops in my old town would stop you just because you were walking down the street. Once I was standing at the edge of my walkway smoking a cig at night, no shoes, no shirt, just shorts on. Next thing I know 2 cops show up and start badgering me with questions on who I am, what I'm doing, were I live, and why am I out at night. Another time, I was simply walking down the street to a friends house, turned down his street and was pulled over because a cop said I spotted him and tried to flee. Another time, some black kids came running across my yard while I was out on the porch, then a cop comes running up and points a gun at me and tells me to get on the ground. That's the local cops mind you. When I was 14, a sherrif showed up at my cousins and accused me of being this red headed kid who stole a bike and fled from the cops. That's just a few of the times. I've learned that pleasantries just give cops the idea that they are above you, can subject you to unlawful orders without repercussions.

Damn... i understand bro. Sounds like the cops started their own culture of harassment there. Too bad man... in my county we have a good sheriff who don't tolerate that kind of behavior with officers. I as your point on that. . Good comments!
