Liberals say we should respect what people "self identify" as, even in cases where more people might be harmed, made uncomfortable, ect. Than just the person self identifying.
For instance, if a physically intact teenage male "self-identifies" as a female, liberals consider his desire to use the female locker room more important than the entire female student populations desire to not encounter an intact p**is (regardless of the lack of intent behind it).

Ahh. I saw it more in terms of forcing others to comply. (I.e. you have to marry me because I "self identify" and you have to honor that).
