LOL...nah. Explain the 50's. 90% highest tax bracket. Unions were stronger than ever. CEOs made WAY less compared to workers. Today- the corporations sit on TRILLIONS of dollars, record levels of profits, stock markets are higher than basically ever, worker productivity is all time highs and the richest get richer while the roads and bridges and schools fall apart and the real wages of the real workers of the country haven't moved in 30 years.
Something is wrong. Like Obama said....it' wasn't the poor people on welfare (or the workers) that caused the economic collapse.
PS- you asked "What % of Americans pay taxes???"- WE ALL DO. We all pay taxes: income, sales, property, etc
Let me ask you a few questions (and my answers):
Who benefits from welfare (or other social program) money? Sure the recipient does....but how about after they spend it? Grocery stores, Walmart, etc. Those "welfare queens" provide jobs when they spend that tax money.
Why do you never see corporate pushback to welfare? Because the answer would be: "OK....give them jobs"
Why doesn't anyone on the right/conservative side get more upset about the CORPORATE WELFARE and subsidies that cost us WAAAAAY more in tax money than social welfare programs? Who benefits from those welfare dollars? The top brass and shareholders....who are typically better off than the average working class Joe.
Rich get richer from OUR tax money. The poor stay poor but at least they spend it in the community. Fix Corporate welfare, subsidies and taxes first....then worry about all the working poor and non working poor. Its a MUCH bigger issue to tax payers in that order.
