It's very easy to explain really, you guys are overlooking the most important statistic on our pages...look at how many comments we have made compared to you...if you look at any user that has over 100,00 points, most of them will have way more comments then you do...comments are where the points are at, and not just any comment, I mean "funny meme comments". The more of those you have, the more points you will have...and of course to make all those comments, takes alot of time on the site...I know I spend way too much time here...And Jying is not a hacker, he just spends way more time on this site than we do, because he is laid up with neck surgery...so he has had plenty of time to make all the comments he's made...if you make a name for yourself with lots of good comments, you will see more of your good memes make the front page...I like your meme by the way...but if you think 50k this week is bad...my record is 132k...LOL

Now im going to go spend an hour thinking of a witty meme comment for a front pager. Thanks for the tip! And sorry about jying and the neck surgery. Now i regret all my comments joking about jying being a hacker. :( x 1000

Lol I didn't even know this conversation was taking place, guess I'm not such a great hacker after all. What Raydog said is absolutely correct, I comment more than anybody because I can right now, and because I really enjoy doing it. If Raydog was trapped in a room in a neck brace with a laptop who knows how many points he would have right now. I wish I could hack then maybe I could have stopped two front page memes from being deleted and over 40,000 points in comments from being lost in 3 hours. But I'm not I'm just a flipper that likes to flip and I'm gonna keep on flippin till I'm all flipped out lol.

Yeah, raydog would have broken imgflip by now if that happened. Heck, he would have so many points they could hack imgflip. I wish you could hack too, then maybe there would be less commenttrollers. I can see the headlines now. "Happy hacker hacks horrible hoodlums" or "caped crusader crashes crazy crooks" Or even "intelligent imgflipper immobilizes insane impersonators". I hope after you get the neck brace off, you'll still flippity flip flop on, or whatever it was you said.

The other thing is, ultimately we don't control our points - it's in the hands of other people.

I mean you can be active on the site and make funny meme comments on front page memes all you want, and generally you will do well, but at the end of the day nobody is going to upvote things they don't want to upvote, so you can't force it.

So since we can't completely control it, a case could be made for not worrying about it so much. Don't get me wrong - I think points are great. I like getting upvotes and I like upvoting other people. But... points would probably not be ideal as the main focus. If a person is only doing things on imgflip for points, they might get very frustrated when they don't have the results they want, and not have as much fun as if they just stay active on the site, engage with other people via comments and memes, and let the points come more naturally. Which generally, if they're staying active and making those funny meme comments, they would. :)

You're overlooking the fact the top users almost exclusively upvote each other, ensuring their status.

And how do you think we all got to know each other? We all comment on the memes we like regardless of whether their in the latest or on the front page...but WE ALL comment on front page memes...make funny meme comments on front page memes as well as replying to the comments of other funny users...if your funny with good memes in the comment threads people will start visiting your page to check out your featured memes. The funniest people get noticed as well as people that interact with each other. Ass long as you're not an ASSHOLE or a constant crybaby or whiner, you'll be fine...nobody cares about whiners except other whiners usually...

a) How active a user is
b) Quality of memes and comments

Thus, I regard it mostly as a barometer of how well my content is being received.

I don't think it's cool to accuse other users of being hackers. Jying's just trying to have a good time on the site. Skill and a good sense of humor are not evidence of hacking.

Im just kidding. I should have made that clear. :( I think jying is a great imgflipper, he makes good memes and has tons of points, so when i saw when he started imgflipping, i was like, lol, hes a hacker, thinking everyone would see it as a joke. However, I see now that some people would probably not see it as a joke. Once again, sorry!
