Yes, I used "Stairway to Heaven" just because of its popularity. I mean, Led Zepplin is one hellva Rock n Roll band that the act of making it "Elevator Music" is an act of both Blasphemy and Treason! You know?

Good band grew up listening to them.. classic rock is still my favorite but I am fond of classic country too..70,s and 80,s rocked.. I used to go see Steve Gaines at a place call the ranch in Galena Ks when he was with crawdad. Okie.

Yea, you were in the perfect time and place to do just that, if I was there during that time (Honestly, I would have loved it, a little wild west going in too, I bet! ) So to me, it sounds like one hellva fun time that I'd have love to have been there! Lol. ;)

It was good times..grew up in the southeast part of Kansas, right on the Oklahoma, Missouri state lines. Biggest lead and zinc mines in the country was there pretty rough and wild place.. Old honky tonk taverns everywhere..If I'd known I was gonna live this long I would've taken better care of myself.. Lol

Yea, my friend father is about your age and he was in the structural and machine transportation business, and he was out in Texas Oklahoma area in the 70's early 80's and he'd tell me stories about the Honkey Tonks, he said there is nothing to do but work your butt off all week 12-18+ hours a day then on the weekends, he said these people were wild! He said anything and everything could happen! Bar room brawls to fighting over the ladies and just plain letting loose after a hard weeks worth! He romanticized it, of course, but, damn, that had be a hellva time! :)

Yeah it was a lot different back then..times have really changed...Only by the grace of God did I live through it... come to Alabama in 87 had kids, Started pulling a tanker... and settled down..But I wouldn't change the times i had coming up for nothing..

Yea, you couldn't get away with what you could back then, not even remotely! My friend's dad said "These men were rough and tumble, badasses in the 1st degree. They been lifting heavy pipe, equipment, you name it! These are the kind of guys and places where when you took your hat off to go inside, you hung your hat by pulling out your knife and sticking the hat to the wall or bar with it!"" Funny how I remember exactly what he said, I remember thinking these guys aren't the ones you want to make enemies of! Lol. ;)

Couldn't help but notice the comment section especially after seeint the wrd Texas! That's where I'm at! Not too far from OK either. I'm guessing one of the "honky tonks" was probably Billy Bobs. That's the largest one. I actually don't live too far from it.
