it can't be, but this book truly is. No other book has sold more copies as in as many languages as this one. Sadly, I don't think as many people read this book as buy it. and that's unfortunate, because it has the answer to the main problem that plagues all people in this world. That problem being Sin.

I'm Protestant (not Catholic).

I agree with Catholics about who God is (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit), and his attributes (e.g. eternality, simplicity, omnipresence, omniscience, omnipotence) -

but I disagree with them about God's basis for determining who will go to heaven.

I was just trying to say that Protestants and Catholics have some fundamental agreements about who God is and what he is like, but a fundamental difference about how people are saved. So while there are important similarities between the faiths, they are not the same faith.

And just to be clear, I am actually *not* the Socrates of ancient Greece thousands of years ago. :)

But.. there are different denominations of protestantism as well, whom do not agree on final salvation. I live in the south,.. and it's accepted humor down here that there can be a gathering of 100 southern Baptist pastors, all with a different interpretation of scripture and salvation. I think that there is a greater unity among Christians, when they focus on the core beliefs that unite them, rather than the small intricacies that differ.

I know what you're saying about different denominations of Protestantism.

But I believe that one thing all Protestants share in common is the denial of the Catholic way of salvation (Catholics believe a person is saved through the sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church).

Protestants believe that salvation is by faith alone. My comment above was about core beliefs (God and salvation), not about intricacies.

Faith in God, Repent for what we have done, and be Baptized. Basically it for all Christians.. to include Catholics.. as I just saw on their forum.

I think if we are all living a life that Christ wants us to,.. understanding we will falter at times but not with big sin, and maintain our faith in God, and then repent the sins that we have and accept him even in the end, I believe that all Christians will join him at his table in the end. name of course I may be wrong in some things because God says his thoughts are above our thoughts But I hope that all Christian denominations meet together in the end. . To include you and I and my other friends I have met on this site.

I don't want to judge who has the better way of salvation, because I honestly don't have that wisdom. If I seek fault in a denomination, then I am overlooking the good. We all worship in a way that we better comprehend scripture. Some Baptist believe drinking and smoking is a sin.. others, to include Catholics believe that doing those things in "excess" is a sin,.. and they can all pick a scripture verse to make their argument. LOL ! To me... that's too trivial. I go with the core. Things we Christians have in common. . Which is live the commandments, have faith and BELIEVE IN HIM, and repent. I hope my Christian values save me.. and I hope that those of other denominations use those principles too. . Accepting each other as Christ accepts all of us.

I'd like to to talk to you more sometime.. thanks 4the reply. I have to admit.. i know little about satanism.. as a Christian, I have never looked at that core belief. It's unfortunate that the comment section is the only communication.. but I would be interested in hearing how you chose that, or what influenced you to follow that as opposed to Christianity. Time to sleep. I can say that I at least appreciate you being respectful and not mocking someone else's belief or opinion. regardless of one's belief it is always in good character to at least respect anothers. I am interested in hearing how you arrived at that point in your life where you chose that belief over any other form of religion.

Do you reject God.. or more on the agnostic view? What was your influence to take that path as opposed to agnostic ? And.. do you reject all religion.. or just Christianity? I would like to understand if you dont mind. I think most identify satanism with pure evil,Where a Satanist might support murder, stealing and all criminal activity. But I'm not sure if your statement on simply self worship supports that thought.

I Googled and didn't read that. Satanism accepts satan.. so they would have to acknowledge God. If you're agnostic.. i did not read where they identify "as a God themselves". Are you describing your personal beliefs? No one can be both agnostic and follow satanism as well.. no more than a Christian can be both agnostic and Christian. So you don't identity with Christian faiths.. or all religions,.. Islam, Hinduism etc? And lastly.. are you an adult? I ask because of some mocking comments you made that appear on an adolescent level. There are many agnostics on this site that are polite.. and do not mock.

No matter what you take from the philosophical teachings in the bible.. it is anything but fiction. The historical governments.. cities, battles etc.

We've put it in a book, so now it's "fact" (Christian logic).

If that is Christian logic, it's not the logic of any Christians I've ever known or am aware of, and I'm aware of quite a few Christians who are the most brilliant and admired individuals this world has ever known.

The bible is a book of facts, but not just because those facts are in a book, but because the bible is God's word. Once you have established that the bible is truly God's word, and not just a collection of nice stories to tell your kids at bed time, the rest is easy.

However, you first have to be open to an honest intellectual evaluation, not just a presupposing it to be false because you automatically discount it as a book of fiction to be mocked, ridiculed, and held in contempt.

I agree with your last statement, but I think that you should change "The bible is a book of 'facts'..." to "The bible is a book of beliefs" so that you don't tick off any people from other religions.
