Social medicine does work! Which is why the US is ranked 37th, after France, Canada, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Netherlands, Finland, etc. in healthcare by the W.H.O. And the people want it, all the most popular political parties support social systems, they know that if they were against it, they would lose votes. Paying taxes is one of the things that you can sit back at say "I am helping the citizens of my country". Lets also look at the fact that America is ranked 11th on what their citizens think of their healthcare, and every country above it is a developed country with social healthcare. So really, i got this information from multiple different sources, there is no argument, it obviously works, and many other nations agree

Socialized medicine is a disaster. Overburdened doctors, extreme waiting list, no direct contact with specialist, deteriorating medical services force some from countries on your list to come to America for treatment. It cannot work in the USA with such an enormous population. I am not saying that the US medical care system did not need some change.. but the system used in canada cannot work in the US. If it was that successful in England in canada.. those peeps would not be coming to the US for life saving treatment that they are waiting for in those countries.

After a couple hours of research, most articles agree that few people go to the US for medical care. A survey of 17000 was taken in BC, 0.5% had ever been to the US for healthcare, a quarter of that went ther exclusively for healthcare. That also doesnt answer the question of why the people of those countries want social systems. Im not saying that social systems are perfect, but if it wasnt for social healthcare, me and many other people would be in crippling debt. And i have read about the wait times, and it is unfortunate, but it also says that in most countries, it is not so common that it is an epidemic. And i am Canadian, but i do have many friends from the US and follow politics very closely, both here and there. But, it is very concerning that so many people are willing to give up safety for "freedom", Ive always been confused about why people are so afraid of the NSA, they monitor you to keep you safe, what are they going to do? There is no reason why they would look through your stuff unless you are causing trouble. Id take safety over "feeling free" any day

NSA is a whole new subject.. gives me an idea of a new meme. I think we agree that there is no perfect health care system, there are pros & cons. The obamacare system cannot work in the US. Our population is too large and there are simply too fee paying taxes to support it. I am fortunate to have my VA benefits. . Because obama care jacked my premiums up 300%.. and a much larger deductible. Nothing is free. Nothing. If someone is not paying for something, then someone else is. The US is turning into a welfare state where more are happy to sit on their ass and draw $$,.. rather than work. About 51% of immigrants are on welfare.. and about 53% of those living in America pay taxes,.. but still receive benefits, to include medical. So.. as it is currently operating, working Americans like myself, will lose more and more take home pay, to pay for the obama care. I had to cancel my insurance and take a bullshit program with fewer benefits. Why? My monthly contribution to my insurance went up from $600 /mo... to almost $1700/mo. Was it fair to punish me to pay for non workers.. and lose that $ out of my pocket? This is what working Americans were faced with. Did it need overhaul? Yes. Was it done right? No. If you were lazy.. not working.. you benefit. Peeps like me that were trying to make it.. lost more. Not fair my friend.. so I respectfully disagree with socialized medicine.. especially obamacare.

I see where you are coming from for sure, and ive also read a lot about Obamacare... That system for sure has problems, but, when it comes down to it, if people could really just live off this, there wouldnt be homeless people, by that logic. In the end, you guys NEED a social system, it has proven to work, countries with social systens like it more than americans like their system. In Canada, I live in the Mid-Upperclass area, and I have friends in the Lower class area, our politicians are balancing it properly so that nobody get dragged into poverty, but everyone gets healthcare. The way I see it is you are not being punished, but you are getting the oppurtunity to help others, im sure you would be speaking differently if the social systems had saved you and those who you care about. Anyways, I know there will never be a perfect solution, but in the words of Trump "We need to do something, BETTER" :P

Redstone, we may have some different opinions on health care. . But you are a polite fellow and at least open to other opinions and willing to look at both sides. I always upvote comments that inspire thought, rather than hate, as I did yours. As I do value your opinions, I was wondering what you thought about Canada's recent election results, and why you might think it a pro or a con to have Trudeau as your new PM. Thanks.

I try to keep it friendly, theres no reason to start namecalling/yelling, ive seen it on the right and the left and certainly doesnt make you look smarter. Anyhow... I think Trudeau is going to do good things, raise taxes for the wealthy to help the middle/lower classes. He has also taken a strong stance on the enviroment, which is awesome. Liberal also has majority in the House of Commons, which means somethings is actually going to get done! I think he is going to do well. And i guess this wont really have an impact on how he does, but he didnt run a single attack ad all campaign, so that was cool

I'm not sure I agree with more taxing on the wealthy.. not that I fall close to that category. I know when obama did it he drove business out of the country and caused unemployment to go up. I hope what happened here in the US does not happen for you. I appreciate your view.. hope it works out. I have a brother & family in Nova Scotia.. he thinks Trudeau is not good for Canada, but his wife is more liberal and thinks he is. Time always tells... ;)

I'm not sold on a complete socialist system.. there are some good example countries, but plenty of bad example countries too. I am always open to new information all the same. "Helping" someone is one thing.. "supporting" them and 4 generations of lazy people is another. Too much free stuff encourages laziness what I see. When benefits exceed $50K/yr..for doing nothing, there is no incentives to get a $35K-$40K /yr job. I have an accident at work,.. i get drug tested, .. these "takers" sit on their ass smoking dope and drinking beer... driving new escalades. The oversight here is pathetic. . Abuse of the system is rampant.

Are you a US citizen? No offense.. but you sound like either a west coast liberal.. or possibly canadian. No offense intended.. I'm trying to understand your comments, and I find them common in these areas. I have family in canada..
