Possibly. However, if you've never seen a meme, it's original to you. If I see a meme and repost it, I'll give the creator credit.

Lately, I've been using images that I uploaded myself so noone can say that they are reposts...a few even made front page and they are Raydog originals.

That's always nice. I've made a few I've uploaded from Google, but without original text. I try to be as original as possible, even though I have gotten ideas from other memes I've seen being shared on Facebook.

Now, as far as using popular templates, I usually go back at least 10-15 pages looking to make sure it's not a repost...but after that I say screw it...as far as I know, I've only reposted once by accident...Sorry Tekbarrier...

Memes would not serve their intended purpose if they were never reposted. Reposting someone's meme is the sincerest compliment you can give.

I agree that memes are made to be spread....but to repost a meme ON a page explicitly set up to MAKE memes is not the intention of the website. Reposting memes on facebook, etc is more acceptable (IMHO)

Yeah, that makes sense. It does say "meme generator" after all.

I'm a big fan of reposts, though. They're proven. Most of them are funnier than at least 80% of original memes. It's good to see good ones cycle back through every now and then (as long as it's not too quickly).

And also, this site has new users who are just figuring out how to make memes funny. I think making a repost of a meme they like is a really good way for them to get confidence.

Is it odd that both a Dog and a Cat have both gotten 3 front front page memes at one time...not at the same time mind you but I just did that a few days ago...once again well done Colorful Cat.

I sometimes wonder about that myself. I usually just post to Reddit, and let the imgflip mods decide if they want to feature my meme. All the memes I've actually submitted here have gotten almost no love. Lol. The mods seem to have a better idea of what's good, and what's not, than I do. XD

I know they must get dumped on a lot! I have memes on my page just stting and you can see that they're being viewed, that has to be them, right? It's not other members I hope, then your ideas could get stolen!
