I beleive Jesus himself was real, im skeptical of Jesus being God and god existing. (Please dont rip me limb from limb, i'm agnostic, not atheist, im not saying there isnt a God)

If you have read the New Testament, you will know that Jesus performed miracles, accepted worship reserved only for God, and taught with the absolute authority that only God could have. No other conclusion can be drawn from his teaching except that he is God.

The main reason why the New Testament was written was to leave a record for the world that God himself had come to earth in the person of Jesus Christ.

There are indeed many mysteries in the bible that exceed my own logic.. but then I'll read something that is so wise.. and makes so much sense.. that I can apply to my own life. When you get a chance,.. try reading the book of proverbs,.. just a chapter a day. It takes minutes. It has everything there to really make some one think.. on a variety of levels. You're "skeptical".. which is what logic is all about. I think you will enjoy that book in the bible. I personally liked the KJV myself, of the book of proverbs. Get back to me sometime and let me know what you think,.. I'd be interested in hearing. I'm not "evangilizing" here.. I'm a guy who had his faith very tested, and was fortunate to divert from the path I was on.

Creationism has always bothered me, 6000 year old earth doesnt line up with anything we know today (Fossils, ice age, atomic half lives, etc) If we know that that was false it makes it difficult to begin to beleive anything else. The right on homosexual relations bothers me too, it is proven that you cannot "choose" your sexuality or when you want to be aroused, i know the new testament isnt as harsh, but the old said the stoning was the way to deal with it. Now that we have more information on how the mind works, the thoughts on homosexuality should be changed, just as was done with slavery, there was actually a time where people were killed for being left handed, those arent being of Christianity, but it shows that thing s can change as our knowledge grows

for creation i dont know if you know but everything in the bible was not meant to be taken literally, just like the book of revelations, the bible is a book made of riddles and clues that you have to put together in order to get to the truth, it is a book that just like Jesus Christ spoke with parables. Like the bible says man was created off the dirt or sand from the ground do you not think it could mean that life might have started in the ground?. and back then was a time of strict rules and punishments because man was sinner and there was no way to forgive mans sin until Christ came and washed it all away and it is through Chirst that we are saved, if it were not for Christ we would have still be stoning our brothers over sin. God knew these things, and he knew their was only one way to change it and get rid of the life that the old testament told us to live, and that was through the Crucifixion of Christ

Yeah, i figured that most of it was figurative (heh, figure paradox) but yeah, I cant see myself joining christianity any time soon because it conflicts with some of my own morals, but this was good, i enjoyed a polite lil debate on imgflip, that doesnt happen often :)

you have to read the bible and stuff like that if you are to truly understand the religion, i pray that god reveals to you what he reveals to me, and yea lol, most debates turn into full out flame wars

Just because the Bible has many "riddles and clues" in it doesn't mean that those riddles and clues are in the area of salvation.

The truth is that the Bible is absolutely and unambiguously crystal-clear that the only way of salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone.

While people try to make that seem ambiguous also, the problem does not lie with any lack of clarity in the Bible on that subject.

Re: creationism, your comment seems to be based on a misconception that is sadly too common these days. That misconception is that science has proved that the claims of the Bible of creation aren't true. This is false. There is nothing in the Bible that has been scientifically called into question. There is no scientific knowledge that indicates that our universe is anything more than several thousand years old. This is because there is no way to measure age directly. Conclusions regarding carbon-dating, radio-isotopes, etc., are based on assumptions about starting conditions and other factors that they have no way of verifying with observation.

One thing we are certain of, however, is that scientific theories about origins of the universe are constantly in flux, and have many of their own problems and unanswered questions. They're not in a position to evaluate the infallible word of God.

While there are scientists who disbelieve the Bible, they do so for political, personal, or religious reasons, not because of anything to do with scientific truth.

Re: homosexuality, even if it has been "proven" that you can't choose your sexuality (which I doubt), it's not even relevant. I might have the inclination to lie from since I was born, or certain situations might tempt me to lose my temper, but that doesn't mean those things now become okay.

Just because someone has a natural inclination to do something in certain situations doesn't mean that we replace the moral standards of the Bible.

6000 year old Earth is a misconception. The Bible says that "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep..." Then he started creating stuff. So, the planet itself was created "in the beginning" but no one knows when that beginning was. Then, the planet was "organized" and populated with all you see. It is argued that MANY things happened between that "beginning" and the creation of what you see in the planet. Anyway, I just wanted to correct that misconception. That said, many Christians do believe in the 6-day creation. Other Christian Scientist, a very small minority, do believe that the "days" were eras that lasted most likely millions of years.

I know an agnostic is unsure of His existence, but vocab book I had stated that agnostics do not accept religion at all. That's weird.

The way that i see agnostism is that we accept scientific fact and live by them (Evolution, Big Bang, etc) but we also dont say that there is no God, because nobody knows and its just arrogant to say that

I am an atheist. Not going to start a debate here, but there are three types of atheists that you will meet.
-The ones that will attack your beliefs, this goes for itself.
-The ones that wont attack you for your beliefs (describes me)
-The ones that will celebrate Christmas because they are assholes. (also describes me)
