Implicit "too"? Seriously!? Does BLM protest deaths of people other than blacks? If they vehemently protested Kate Steinle's death, I would have some respect for them. (Vehemently protesting means loud and in a lot of places, not looting and burning buildings.)
And what about Jamiel Shaw Jr.? Why hasn't BLM protested his death?
BTW, what if there was a group called "White Lives Matter" who protested deaths of white people at the hands of people of other ethnicities? I bet a whole lotta people would be upset about that.

This is a teachable moment for you... NEVER USE THIS WORD... you don't need a history lesson do you? When did you're ancestor immigrate here? Mine have been here since before the inception of this country. Would you like for me to dig up the derogatory words used against your kin, your ancestors, and use them as "sarcasm"? Lets see how your ancestors would like that... it will produce a real "visceral" response you aren't familiar with, followed by anger, defensiveness.

I don't want to bash your culture... in fact, I'm part Irish... and the Polish are great people. You need to understand, your comments, however you intend, can offend... especially words that are "charged" like ni**er. You need to remember, like what your mother would tell you, be kind with your words, they will come back on you "something fierce". I understand the push (or rational, however I much dis-agree with) to "say what you want to say" But again, your words have meaning, often more than what you intend... Your words will get you in trouble... use them wisely. You won't always have "nice teachable moments" like you will on here, like someone like me. There is a morality at stake in you, you have to do better, NOW, or this overlooked area will cost you something dear.

reply

It's a statement against the fact that people need to label everything according to race/skin color. Someone who was not racist wouldn't start movements like #blacklivesmatter and would instead deal with situations individually, and with a certain degree of logic and empathy.

No government "made" the word racism, genius. Or the definition.
reply
1 up, 1 reply
Actually the Oxford English Dictionary's first recorded utterance of the word racism was by a man named Richard Henry Pratt in 1902. A general in the U.S. Army and Superintendent of the government sanctioned Carlisle Indian Industrial School, which sole purpose was to strip Native Americans of their language, culture, and religion. One of General Pratt's famous quotes was "Kill the Indian...save the man". So...in actuality an agent of the government DID make the word racism.

Stfu. I am WHITE and I have had RACISM against myself, due to angry blacks wanting to blame every white for their own misfortune. I had a black woman straight up ask my fiance, who is Hispanic, why she was with a white mann She then proceeded to state that she lost her job because of me and others like me. Mind you, I have never even seen this woman in my life and have nothing to do with anything she was saying. Tell me again how whites can't be victims of racism.

That's not racism. That a cultural bias that this person had against you. This is wrong. This type of decriminalization that she is talking about is real, happens regularly. Imagine not being picked because you name is associated with being ghetto (Lecricia is a great example.)

It's plain and simple racism. This person did not know me or my situation, but decided to approach me and exclaim these things simply because I was white. I've been turned down for quite a few jobs and guess what? I'm WHITE. You'll have to excuse me if I don't believe in white privilege as I have never had anything handed to me and never received any kind of preferential treatment for being white. You denying racism on the part of a black person is clearly a biased statement.

Oh I'm sorry. You didn't invalidate their opinion because of a misspelling, just their credentials. Who sounds absurd now? reply

Wow. I must struck a nerve if you feel that way. The definition of racism that you provided is a definition provided by those who are the beneficiaries of racism. For one to be a racist you have to have a system in place to enforce those thoughts and actions. Me (a non-white) calling a white person a honky has no more effect on them than me saying that word. A white person calling a non-white a ni**er, a spic, or a gook only reinforces the system set in place to hold those people (non-whites) back.

No. The #ALLLIVESMATTER serves 2 key purposes: 1) to delude the value of #blacklivesmatter, & 2) it implicitly contains #allwhitelivematter. If you are a "minority" (non-white, non-male, non-christian, etc) you know that all lives matter. But we also know from the history of the US, it won't say its racist, it won't admit it, but the proof is in how people respond, the negative comments, the downvoting. I'm not complaining, I'm stating the truth. Any "minorities" care to comment?
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
If #alllivesmatter deludes the value of black lives, then #blacklivesmatter deludes the value of all non-blacks. Why can't it just be looked at on a per case basis? How many non-blacks have been blown away by police? How many non-blacks have been gunned down or jumped by blacks? Just because you don't hear a media circus about it everyday doesn't mean it's not happening. This meme was a statement against the fact that everything is being labelled accprding to skin color and race, rather than getting to the bottom of the problem. If we point the finger at others who have nothing to do with the situation, we'll never get anywhere.
reply
0 ups
You realize that defenseless black citizens are 3 times more likely to be "blown away by the cops" than defenseless white citizens, right? And the police who commits these murders are rarely charged, much less indicted for their crimes. This implies that white lives matter more than black lives to the police and the judicial system. Hence the #blacklivesmatter movement. The movement is not excluding white lives, it's reminding the police and judicial system that black lives, just like white lives, are of worth. The police and judicial system already know that white lives matter as the stats on murders by police can attest to. The only purpose that #alllivesmatter serves is to take the focus off of a real social issue; police having little regard for the lives of unarmed, defenseless, black citizens and not suffering repercussions from it.

Ben Carson is Black, grew up with no dad, had issues as a kid, but now he's a brain surgeon. White privilege didn't affect him.
reply
0 ups, 1 reply
Ben Carson has achieved great things, but he wouldn't have had a chance to achieve those great things if it weren't for affirmative action, which was created to nullify white privelege when it comes to education, employment, and other areas.
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
Right. Ben Carson didn't succeed. People around him gave him his success. Just like "You didn't build that."
reply
0 ups, 1 reply
Wow! Do you actually read what I write, or do you just make it up as you go along? I didn't say people gave him anything. I said affirmative action gave him a chance to succeed. Do you even know how affirmative action works? Pay...attention...closely. In Ben Carson's case affirmative action gave him a chance to be admitted to schools where people of color were historically excluded from attending or not offered scholarships, regardless of how excellent their grades were. Affirmative action mandates that these culturally biased schools set aside scholarships and openings for non-whites they also had a chance attend these schools. Non whites didn't have a special grading scale, didn't have easier classes, and weren't just given degrees because of their skin color. They had to work just as hard as any student. Because of affirmative action employers also had to set aside a certain amount of slots for non whites who had EQUAL OR HIGHER QUALIFICATIONS as their white counterparts, because even thought some non whites were equally or better qualified than some whites, whites were historically given preference for those jobs. Never did I say that Dr. Ben Carson was GIVEN anything, but a CHANCE. You magically came up with that idea on your own. Do...you...un...der...stand...now?
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
Settle down, son. I apologize for putting words in your mouth. I didn't really get what you meant by affirmative action, so thanks for clarifying. I agree that Ben Carson was given a chance not many black kids got. However, I still don't believe in "white privilege". I honestly think anyone has a chance. If a black person is living in poor conditions, he can probably get a job flipping a sign or scrubbing toilets. Not too glorious, but it's a job. Anyway, I don't really see a point in still arguing. So I'll try to end it with this next sentence: You have your thoughts, I have mine, and I think we can just respect each other's opinions and have a good time memeing. :)

How about when I mention slavery or Jim Crow segregation I'm told by whites to "leave it in the past" or "that was so long ago", but when a white person mentions the holocaust we are told "we must remember so nothing like this happens again"? Or how about when I walk through stores and and workers actually follow me around like I'm a criminal that's looking to steal from them, while whites are allowed to freely browse without being spied on? Or how about when the police swerved in front of my car, jumped out, pulled his weapon on my cousin and I and almost kills us in the process because we "fit the description", as most black males do? Or how about when I enter elevators with white women and they and they actually clutch their purses as if purse snatching was written in my DNA? How about when I voice my opinion and I'm labeled "angry" (as in the "angry black male" stereotype) and white people who voice their opinions are labeled "passionate". These are just some of the things that I experience frequently in my life. These are things that my white bothers (white men who served in combat with me and have become as close to me as brothers) have never experienced. That's just my experiences as a black male; I can only imagine what black women go through.
reply
2 ups, 2 replies
First of all, most of us weren't alive during Jim Crow and slavery, nor were we alive during the holocaust. None of us had any participation in those things and though I do think learning from history stops us from repeating it, most people's negative outlook on bringing up such subjects is that they usually become the scapegoat for things they had nothing to do with. Btw, I have experienced people following me in stores, assuming I'm going to steal shit and have had women also clutch their bags when I am near them, and I'm white. I don't have any tattoos, don't do drugs and I don't dress like a scumbag. I couldn't tell you why I get treated that way but it sure isn't because I'm black. I too, when voicing my opinion, am seen as combative and angry, even though I'm not. I think these problems have a lot more to do with social class than the color of your skin. I won't deny that there are racists out there and that scumbag, racist cops need to be dealt with. I can say with certainty that "white privilege" does not exist, as what you experience is a "class privilege" doled out to those with money and power. I don't expect you to agree with me or believe anything I say, but I thought I'd put it out there.

You're right. I don't believe anything you've said. Throughout all of your comments on this whole meme, you are the first white person I've encountered in my whole life who actually is treated like a black person or a person of color. when it comes to society. Throughout this whole comment section you are the only white person that has said "I've been through that too!". And not just this post, but other posts as well. If you have to lie to prove your point then what's the use of debating with you. Soon you'll be saying that your ancestors too were slaves. But you know there is one thing you said that is right, and that's class warfare. The only thing is rich black people are subject to mistreatment too. I noticed how you conviently left out anything that has to do with harassment by the police. I guess you knew that lie would be too hard to swallow.

No. It's not because he's white that I don't believe him, it's because on every post I've read from him on any meme on this site dealing with race, he conviently been through any and all experiences that non-whites have been through, that can be attributed to racism. Today, I asked white friends have they been through some of the same experiences as I have and none of them could say that they've been through all of those experiences, or if they have, they admit it's nothing compared to the frequency in which their black counterparts experience them. Even my white friends think he's lying. Either they are the luckiest white people in the world or Uncle Rich Skeleton is a bold faced liar. Maybe you two should actually talk with non-whites, face to face, about these issues and and truly see how people are affected. It's a whole lot harder to lie in the face of someone telling the truth.

Just because you and you "white buddies" don't believe me doesn't make my statement any less true. I wasn't lying about anything I've said and this being the only meme I have ever exclaimed these things that I have experienced, I'm gonna go ahead and call you a liar, as you are teying to make it seem like I have said things of this sort in other comments on other memes.

Why? So I can be a slave and know my place, and not be able to voice my opinion? That'd probably make you a whole lot more comfortable wouldn't it? Well guess what Simon Legree, it ain't happening. The same way I fought to protect the rights of dumbasses like you to voice your opinions, I also fought for mine. It's obvious you're not trying to start an argument over what I wrote because you've already changed the reason you're arguing twice. First you said was making a general assumption about white people because of my experiences. When I shot that down, you changed your reason to arguing to whether or not I thought it was ok for a white personto write that passage. I can't wait to see what you're trolling ass will use as the next excuse to be an asshole and pick an argument with me. The passage is simply explaining the phenomena of white privilege and why most white people don't think it exists. I don't see anything racist about what the person said in that excerpt. And for your information, a person cannot be racist against a white person. Racism implies that their is a system in place to enforce the bigotry and racial prejudice against another race, whether that be socially, economically, mentally or physically. Their is no system in place to enforce said conditions on white people by other races. So there is no such thing as being racist against a white person. But I am able to be bigoted against white people if I were so inclined. But I'm not. I have brothers and sisters of all different colors, cultures and classes that served with me and fought alongside me in Iraq. Evidently you have some mental or social issues which cause you to lash out at people who speak with truth and intelligence (two qualities that you must lack due the frequent and constant inbreeding in your family). So...have fun having babies with your siblings and getting high on meth. I'm sure you're probably engaged in one of those two activities at this very moment. Toodles....b**ch.

"Their is no system in place to enforce said conditions on white people by other races. "

Ever heard of affirmative action?

Look, I know many cops have itchy trigger fingers around black men, and there's no excuse for it. But that doesn't give you an excuse to throw around racial stereotypes like "white privilege." That is, in fact, a racist phrase against white people.
reply

Lmao!!! Are you a high schooler?!? Rotfl!!! Lis...sten...care...ful...ly. Affirmative Action isn't enforced by other races on white people. It's enforced by the government on institutions, companies, businesses, etc. Not on white people Lmao!!! And by the very fact that there has to be affirmative action proves that there is a such thing as white privilege. If there was no white privilege, there would be no need for affirmative action. Evidently you're so eager to pull the race card for white people that you'd make any statement, no matter how crazy, unsubstantiated, or off topic it is. Let me shed some light on this situation for you. WHITE PEOPLE DONT HAVE A RACE CARD TO PULL! White people aren't three times more likely to shot by police, while unarmed and defenseless, than other races. Whites aren't immediately disqualified for jobs and entry into universities because of their skin color. Whites weren't told for hundreds of years that they were inferior because of their skin color. White communities weren't targeted for the import and distribution of narcotics by the federal government. Whites haven't been marked for death by police because of their skin color. Whites haven't been taught for hundreds of years that their skin wasn't the right color, hair wasn't the right texture, and that they didn't measure up to the western ideal of beauty. White countries haven't been de-stabilized and **ped of their natural resources by non whites. White people haven't been eradicated in the millions because of their skin color. Whites people don't need an Affirmative Action legislation just to level the playing field (and believe me the playing field still isn't leveled). White people aren't more likely to be sentenced to more time in prison, for the same crime committed by non whites. This is what White privilege is. This what it means to have a system in place to enforce racial prejudice. All those examples I gave, that White people aren't, is what has happened, and continues to happen to Non-whites. So just stop. You make yourself sound more and more ridiculous with each comment. White privilege isn't a stereotype, you asinine moron, it's a social phenomena that has endured for hundreds and hundreds of years. Remove your stupid ass from from your farm animal porn sites and read a book once in awhile.
