How anyone can even make this mistake is beyond me, and I'm not even a native English speaker.

I don't know if anyone would spot the difference in a job interview, although it would be wrong in a cover letter. The reason why people make the mistake is because "of" and "have" sound the same.

Non-native speakers often have a better grasp of the grammar of a language than native speakers do, because during the learning process they're more self-conscious and intentional about how they're learning it.
