Whenever I question my parents they think I'm 'talking back' to them. I'm just questioning their methods and reasoning! Is that a crime?

If your parents are idiots, move out an pay bills on your own. If not, shut up unless you want popped in the jaw. I don't pay the mortgage to get lip from some little turd that thinks his life sucks.

I don't do that very often. And if I do... That's why I try to be respectful to them. My parents are really awesome. They have their problem but overall, they do a lot for me. And I never said they were idiots..

My point is... If you don't listen your kids wen they say something you don't like, they will try to speak with someone else. And usually bad people are ready to listen all what you hate to listen and to answer all what you scare about. I know sometimes we are tired, stressed, and forget how hard is to be a teenager specially on these days. But listening worth the effort. Btw... I have kids :)

It's about listening when they are appropriate question. I, however, will never let my children question my authority or undermine my position as the head of the house. That doesn't mean that I don't listen if they have an issue or problem. I just don't put up with whining.

I understand what you say. I have kids trust me i understand. :) But listening is not always about agree, right? Sometimes (more of the times) what our kids wants is attention more than your agreement. Let´s do this.. what about tell your children "Ok let´s make a deal: i will listening carefully , you have permission granted to talk or ask anything.. wen we disagree each other i promise i will double think your point of view but you need to understand i am not perfect, i can commit mistakes but i am the person who takes decisions here by now. You promise to always tell me the whole truth i promise you i will try to explain my decisions... and to apologize wen i went wrong"

Not easy at all. I know it. But wen you don´t listen they search somebody else. Sects, bad companies, drug dealers, perverts... they are all ready to listen our childrens and convince them we don´t understand them. What is more important to you... your reason... or children´s confidence? Your authority become stronger with confidence, right? I may be wrong on this but just sharing my own experience. :) Cheers.

Being a parent is never easy. But my kids know if they have a question, I'll get them the answer. If I don't know, I'll find out. The great thing about parenting now is that there is much more information out there. When your kids respect your authority, and when you lead by example, they have no issues coming to you when something serious comes up. Every house is different, nobody has it perfect and I won't say I disagree with your style... this is just how I roll.
0 ups, 9y
Of course each house is different! And nobody of use get a tutorial "how to be the perfect father/mother" wen children born. :) Actually there are a lot of tutorials around.. but wen you try them, nothing seems to work . I won´t say i disagree with your last post . We both agree bottom line is keep communication with them and confidence. Even wen hard. Wish you the best with your childs, blessings!

You don't speak like an adult, nor act like one. Maybe they're trying to teach you something. Maybe you should listen.

Considering you basically said regardless of your financial situation how your parents treat you is your problem and if you don't take it like a bitch you can get physically assaulted I'm glad not to sound or act like an adult if you are the definition of one.

I assume nothing. From the way you speak to me and your childish behavior it seems that you have much to learn. Also, what qualifies as "mental abuse"? Teaching your kids respect and how to behave? Making sure they are prepared for a life that they need to earn what they have and that nothing will be handed to you? I don't need a life story to know that you have a "holier than thou" attitude which probably stems from your parents failing miserably to set an example.

I hate abusive parents like you.

You wouldn't know abuse if it smacked you right in the suck hole. Time to grow up and realize shit isn't rainbows and unicorns and give your kids the tools they need to be successful. My parents were successful, I am, and my children will likely be as well. You know why? Accountability.

Now look who's speaking like an adult. You play that hypocrite card. It's hilarious.

I was referring to your poor grammar. Try harder next time, thanks for playing.

Yes because grammar totally invalidates the point, oh wait it doesn't, and it doesn't win an argument anymore than threatening violence at me. (Please the worst you can do is caps lock me, big whoop.) But I tell you what, I'm going to let you have the last word if your tender ego needs it but before I'm done I will just say this: Why don't you just admit you are a violent psycho (which you provided evidence for in your own words) who lashes out at people online to make up for their own mental deficiencies? It would be the first step to your recovery.
0 ups, 9y
Incoherent grammar makes you seem unintelligent. Unintelligent people don't make the rules, or should they be instructing anyone to do anything (especially raising kid). I admit that I hold my kids to a higher standard than other people do, but that's because I've been successful in life due to my parents doing to same for me. I had plenty of fun in my childhood, had responsibility, and worked hard for what I got. I take pride in the fact that I earn everything I have and provide everything for my family they need. I'm sorry that you feel that raising emotional whiny kids that have no discipline is acceptable. Hopefully you never have children, because they would contribute to the train wreck that today's parents are creating. Thanks!

Lmao, yeah like the mom who tries to get her kid to see that his dad is a deadbeat without pointing it out, but the kid grows up enough to see that she was the crazy bitch and called her out on it!

They can't help it if you have stupid opinions. Your opinions have nothing to do with those topics. Those are topics that they should be discussing with you (it's call PARENTING) without you voicing an opinion first.
0 ups, 9y
And they think that way i am pretty sure! It takes 30, 40 years to think and understood in that way! :) I really wish things be like you expect but IMHO teens rarely will share bad things with someone they can´t share "stupid opinions". :)

I'm not stating that children should disrespect their parents, but the parents (after a certain age) should most certainly listen to what their kids have to say

You forget you're still someone's kid. By your logic that means your opinion counts for nothing huh?
