@Jeff909 I upvoted your comment above, please read these and see what I mean.. http://starcasm.net/archives/274427 http://christwire.org/2011/01/is-pawn-stars-fake-or-are-they-really-robbing-people-blind/ ....If you're appearing on a tv production selling/pawning an item , it's not just a walk-in random event... There are scene setups (lights, cams, etc) and organizing scripts for the different shots and post- and pre- interviews with the sellers (so everything runs smoothly)... Knowing myself from film production, It definitely takes a bit of time... I think you can be pretty sure the people are getting more than $20 to hang around for all that (I know I wouldn't hang around for hours for $20)... The same goes for the show, American Pickers, where a film crew has to setup at someones house/barn before the contrived shot of the first 'arrival' of the van (otherwise, how could they get a shot of the van arriving?)... These people probably get alot more than the Pawn Star sellers, since shooting is also done on their own land and houses.... In any case, there is definitely a stipend given for this.... It's no big deal to me; the shows are still entertaining -- but people gotta be understanding that 'reality tv' is not totally reality -- as it might appear after it's all edited together....
