They want everyone to be beholden to them, not just their supporters

You raise the minimum wage, then goods and services become more expensive, which quickly negates any benefit of higher wages.

To make life more affordable, bring more factories back to America and find ways to increase production in those factories. Also, find ways to lower taxes.

Back in the 80s I worked a night watchman gig. I was all excited that we were gonna get a raise to $3.35 an hour. An older, retired Deputy explained to me my take home pay would stay the same but it'd cause the cost of everything to go up via inflation.
I thought he was being mean.
He was right.
He explained to me minimum wage raises were just increased taxes. But if politicians really cared about us they'd give us TAX CUTS - Which would make our take home pay bigger.
I realized he was not mean, he was wise.

And they accuse Trump of not knowing anything about economics. It’s beyond ridiculous.
